Hi
I have got 2 Martin Mini Mac Profile moving heads..
I am not the best when it comes to Dmx..
I either want these to work in sync on there own, 1 Master and 1 slave i guess..
Or
Work with a controller of some type..
What controller i have no idea..Ideally maybe someone local could set theses up for me..
If not please advise me..
Many Thanks
John

Best to have them set up as master and slave as trying to program a show with a controller is a nightmare.
Here's the manual, look at page 23 for stand alone feature (http://www.martin.com/service/downloadfile.asp?name=UM_MiniMAC_EN_H.PDF&cat=65)

I wouldnt say programming a show is a nightmare, but if you're not into DMX then yes, set them master slave and they'll work fine. I have a pair that I run through Daslight, but occasionally I'll run them master slave with the pan inverted on one unit. You can set the min - max pan & tilt on the lights too.

What do you need to know? If you set them to sound to light, or auto they will go through the pre-programmed shows together

When i turn them on together SA on the led screen comes comes up..
When i tap the table they move around the room, they both moving around at roughly the same time but they move in different directions, Different colours appear with different Gobos..
What i am after is.. They move together with same gobos and colours..
Thanks

ah, seems you have each light set as sound-to-light, but not master slave. each light thinks it is the master.
You need to go into the menu system and set one light to master (sends commands) and one light to slave (commands in)

On the light you want to be the master, press the menu button, scroll up or down until the display reads 'SA'
press select
scroll to 'Ctr'
press select
scroll to 'Snd'
press select
scroll to 'EnA'
press select
scroll to 'On'
press select
Scroll to 'trg'
press select
scroll to 'Aut' for auto movement, or 'Snd' for sound to light
press select
Press menu to exit.
This now the master fixture which should be moving either automatically or sound to light depending which option you chose.
On the slave light:
press the menu button
scroll up or down until the display reads 'SA'
press select
scroll to 'Ctr'
press select
scroll to 'rEc'
press select
scroll to 'EnA'
press select
scroll to 'On'
press select
Scroll to 'trg'
press select
scroll to 'Aut' for auto movement, or 'Snd' for sound to light
press select
Press menu to exit.
The lights should now do exactly the same

If you want the slave light to pan in the opposite direction to the master (which I do when running master - slave)
On the slave light:
Press the menu button
scroll to 'PEr'
press select
scroll to 'P-t'
press select
scroll to 'PIn'
press select
scroll to 'On'
press select
press menu to exit

make sure you follow the first set of instructions. you need to setup master/slave before you set the pan inversion etc.
And obviously you need to connect them with a dmx cable (check the cable is connected to the 'out' socket of the master and the 'in' socket of the slave)
Job's a good 'un as we say :D

Hi John,
You could get a Martin 2510 playback controller, and program it using Martin LightJockey (the software itself is a free download).
Alternatively, because the Stand Alone mode can be triggered by DMX, you could buy a standard controller to give you full manual control. This will enable you to set static programs for the early part of a function i.e. a slow static colour scroll whilst guests are coming in, then set them to Stand Alone for later in the evening.
Good luck.

There's plenty of forums on the net which go quite in depth with DMX.
There's even books on the subject as well. :)
Now if you want to go down the route of controlling a lighting rig with a network, then that's a whole new ball game :D
