Evenin' all

Finally got round to upgrading my business phone contract over the weekend (only overdue since November lol) from my ageing Nokia 2730 to a shiny new BlackBerry 9900 Bold.

However, BlackBerry or Orange seem to want to complicate things as much as possible when it comes to Data.

With my iPhone, I simply turn on WiFi - Connect to my router - Job done, I can email, browse the web and download daft applications as fast as my broadband connection allows.

My Blackberry has WiFi turned on, connected first time to my router, even shows the signal strength gauge at the top, however it won't use my WiFi connection for anything...Instead it seems to favour my rather dire GPRS signal that I get in my home limiting me to a maximum 48 kbps...not fun.

Logged a support request with Orange so I'll see what they say, does anyone else have this issue? I need constant access to my email and if I can't even take advantage of WiFi when it's available then its going to be taken back!

Is there a preference setting on it that chooses what preffered connection it will hook on to ?
I only had a Blackberry for a short time so didnt look at any settings, I set it up for wifi and that was it.

It's fixed! - Turns out my router settings were at fault.

My router only supports WEP or WPA (not the more secure WPA2) and was set for TKIP + AES Encryption...which the Blackberry didn't like when trying to authenticate it's connection to the Router.

Simply changed it to TKIP and hey presto - I can now use my WiFi properly!
