I will do the limited highlights:-

Got this enquiry through for 2013 and quoted it as per usually. Lots of detail, etc, etc.

Got the response that the hotel offer their DJ at £225 and she was just getting some quotes before confirming anything, but thanks for my time anyone.

(We were more money, so we clearly didn't get it for that reason)

I email back to the effect -

No problem. However, here's a little free advice (I realise we won't get this one, but a few things to look out for). At £225 the hotel guys is competitive book him. Don't go price shopping on your entertainment its 50% of your day. Told her to check people had PLI and PAT, that they were using professional grade equipment, had wedding experience and feedback. Hotel will have vetted the chap so go with him.

What do you think the response was?

Okay I will spill

"Thank you so much for all your advice. I have to say nobody else i had contacted has been half as helpful so because of this we would love it if you would do our wedding if you're still available? I would rather have someone who really knows their stuff as like you say the evening is half of our day. What kind of deposit do you need?
Thanks."

I agree it is always nice to be helpful, although suprised at the outcome.

We all like to think this happens - be nice and be rewarded - but 99.9% of the time I imagine it would seem like pressure sales or the bride and groom would just think 'stupid :Censored: just annoyed he didn't get the booking'.

Do you work for News International by any chance. :D

For legal reasons I am not implying News International makes stuff up.
