How £50 can change your life. Advice please.

A while ago, I bought a DJ2GO, as told on here. It has revolutionised my working style. Formerly, I would have used the laptop early evening, especially on autoplay with background stuff, and as soon as I got into the evening proper, it would be D2 all the way, with the laptop being used for searches, memory jogging, and playing just a few tracks. Not now. It does everything, with the D2 crate being loaded with a bunch of key tracks.

Now the advice bit. My monster playout case has D2 at the bottom, a mixer, and a Cortex above. This was the layout for use without laptop, but as I said, the Cortex is now surplus. Do I leave it in and use the space generated to fit something else ( I've got a candidate in mind, a show director control unit ). Should I stick the Cortex into another case? Should I leave it as is?
I already have one in another case, and the possibility exists to crreate another one for dry hire.
Decisions, decisions.

Save your back, put the showdirector and a blanking plate in, and then work out how you can save some more weight ;-)

They wouldn't, but it's not the fact it's old tech, but all MP3 players have the same problem with dry hire suitability, and thats the need to index their music collection, and the learning curve neccesary to use them. Dry hire to the general public needs to have plug and play simplicity to work.

I agree. You would end up having to hire out of a drive of indexed tracks aswell with it.

If you could lock the drive down somehow to prevent copying, and had the relevant licences in place...would it be illegal?

I only ask because I was doing a wedding fayre with a Jukebox company this weekend...and the comcept is identical. They have the music and they are hiring it and the equipment to the client....
