Then surely that should be pot of the century and not fluke of the century. :p :d

I have had this happen against me in a match game but thankfully it was not the last black.

No it's not. It was a televised tournament on Eurosport. I don't think it was shown live in this country but a colleague of mine saw it when it first broadcast.

Darn! You're right. I feel like a right numpty getting the thread title wrong!

I don't play too much snooker but I do play a lot of UK 8Ball pool. And this kind of thing happens more than you'd expect it to on the pool table. I'd guess it was to do with the ball clinging to the seam between the cloth and the wood on the table edges.

Actually, Gaza, just noticed the snooker avatar you there! You're probably best placed to comment on this subject!!

Thats my son in the avatar, i hav been teaching him and yep i have played league snooker for 28 years.

this just hapens now and then and as you say, the ball does run along the join where the cloth meets the wood of the cushon.

By the way, the tables that the proffesionals play on have slightly bigger pocketts, the nuckle of the pockets are slightly more forgiving, there is no way you can slam a ball in along the rail and stun out out to get on the next ball on a lot of club tables, like they do on the tables they use and the cloths are llightning fast, but they would only last three or four months in a club because they are so thin.

I kind of clicked on to the sarcasm after I'd posted. To be honest, I'd had a very long, and not great, day yesterday (which included dropping and smashing my favourite pair of sunglasses!) so I was tired and my sense of humour was at a bit of low! Apologies!! :o
