I still can't see the point..
Mine is quick enough for what I need and I have a camera for taking photos and video.

I sold my ipad 2 last week and have gone back to using my old ipad 1 until the 3's launch.
The new processor will allow the leap from tablet 'toy' as somew see them to a real work horse portable computer. Especially for video and photo editing.
Roll on march 16th for me :)

Cant really see what I would do on the iPad what I cant do on my iPod touch 4g. It plays my music, it has a camera, I can surf the internet, use pretty much the same apps as the iphones, facetime and talk to talking tom albeit on a smaller screen.
I understand Apple moving products along but I think sometimes they move so quick the people that paid all the money for an ipad 2 will fell a bit out of date, and it hasnt been out all that long really.

I love Apple products, but it does annoy that they move on when the previous model is only 12 months old if that.
I have used mine twice as sole playout using Redbull BPM software, flawless both times, and sounds better them my laptop.

I use the dJay app which is excellent. Used as the third backup for the discos.

I'll keep my iPad 2, thanks! It's thinner :D
Seriously, is anyone falling for this retina :BS:?

The killer features for me are the hotspot IF Three will allow it to be used and HSDPA+. No evidence one way or the other as yet re: hotspot but I'm keeping my eyes peeled.
If it ticks those boxes then I can lose the MiFi and justify the upgrade. From an iPad 1.

What's BS about it?
iPad 2 resolution = 1024 x 768
The New iPad resolution = 2048 x 1536
I'm confused as to where the BS is?

My Android phone (Samsung Galaxy Nexus) works as a wifi hotspot, so I use that if I need internet on the go on my iPad (even although the iPad is 3G - as it's PAYG).

Yes, it's a higher resolution. I get that. The point is for the size of the screen and the distance you normally view it at, it was absolutely fine. Every graphic you see demonstrating how great the "retina" display is, does this by zooming right into icons etc, so yes you can see the difference then. But you don't operate your iPhone 4s / iPad (3) one inch from your face, and this is the kind of distance you need to hold it at to notice the difference.
And yes, I've compared retina and non-retina displays side-by-side. And yes, I have 20/20 vision (last time it was checked).
Plus...higher resolution means everything that's a fixed pixel size (most websites) needs more zooming to read. So you'll start at the wonderful, high res "retina" resolution, and end up zooming in more to make text readable...probably to around about the current resolution ;)

You should know by now that Matty buys in to any old rubbish as long as it has Apple written on it. :sj:

I'll probably buy one, because I don't own any of the previous models and the launch will probably coincide with when my phone is due for upgrade, so I can sell my old one (iPhone 4) to contribute towards the cost. Hopefully, it'll be before I go on holiday, so I can take it with me for poolside fun!

I currently have in my hands an amazon kindle fire, not sure when they're available here but it's a nice bit of kit and will be much cheaper (maybe around £200). Runs on an amazon version of Android.

Probably when the manufacturing and distribution cost comes down to the point where they're not making a net loss on each unit "sold" (http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2396639,00.asp) :o

Amazing! I'm an iPad virgin but thought I'd dig into the savings account as a treat, and buy the iPad. Fantastic. I've only used it an hour yet I'm considering selling it and buying it through orange on a contract basis. It would be great to use it everywhere! Bit put off by the £13.99 DJay price tag!
