Anyone used it?

I use Dropbox and one or two others, but this is £9.99 a year for unlimited space and any kind of files.

It isn't for 'business' officially, but it looks too good to be true.

Thoughts?

35 views and not one person used this?

Come on Martin VV - you must have heard of it?

What about Livedrive?

To be honest it's not the sort of service I have a need for.

Dropbox suits me fine for the odd chunk of files I need to move around. I've no need to look elsewhere.

Box.com are offering something like 50Gb of free space for anyone signing in via mobile devices this month.

I heard of that and had a look as it sounded great. On closer inspection there were a few issues which made it worthless / useless - i.e. a ridiculously low upload rate (unless you paid a premium) and the ability to only upload via the web interface (unless you paid a premium), no automatic syncronisation etc. etc.

Dropbox is good at what it does, if that's what you need, with an interface you don't have to worry about.

If you're looking for online backup solutions / cloud storage, take a look at the likes of BackBlaze, SpiderOak, Carbonite, Wuala etc. etc. (in that order), as I've heard good things about these from various sources.

Never heard of Monstercloud either, Dropbox is perfect for my needs anyway, I have the 50Gb version.

They do appear to be resellers though for Livedrive, they charge £39.95 per month for a reseller package and he's doing it for £9.99 per year, so he has to take on 48 subscribers to level up.

I'm always wary of resellers in this sort of way, they come and go quickly. I guess though that if he folds, then Livedrive still have your "stuff".

£14.95 per month for 5TB of storage certainly beats the 9.95 I pay for 50GB storage from Dropbox.

I have a 4tb NAS drive ,apart from the drive failing what would the advantages be over that?

I've got a NAS drive, too, but that's totally different from cloud storage / synchronisation...you can't really compare the two.

for £10 a year I would be surprised to get unlimited space AND fast throughput etc. - To my way of thinking something would have to give.
