I am currently using a Numark Omni control at the moment and want to upgrade and have narrowed it down to 2. Which are the Numark mixdeck http://www.nevadamusic.co.uk/live-sound-dj/turntables/numark-mixdeck-univeral-dj-system?utm_source=google&utm_medium=GoogleShopping&utm_campaign=googlebase&gclid=CMLp_ojH364CFYwMtAodMnKiYQ
or the Traktor s2 http://www.djkit.com/native-instruments/traktor-s2-kontrol.html and have a Kam 450 usb for the odd cd

Ok well what do you want to use it for exactly? Silly question?

The S2 needs to be connected to a laptop to work. It also has no inputs at all so can't be used as a mixer for external sources. It has a mic input but don't trust it for DJ'ing with as it's rubbish. But for £329.00 it's cheap as chips and utterly fantastic if you know it's limitations and plan to use Traktor Pro 2. I have the Kontrol S4 which i'm very much in love with.

The Mixdeck is on the face of it a better product. It's universal, it can be a controller, a CD mixer and can take an iPod as a music source as well. It's a full blown mixer which can be used without a laptop being connected. It has lots of inputs and outputs. It is also more than double the cost of an S2 so you're not really comparing to equal products here.

I had a mixdeck for a while but whilst it does everything Ian mentions above its quite bulky especially with a flightcase and compared to my denon mc6000and only the decks are midi enabled and not the mixer part. I think its dated quite quickly and there are better mumark controllers out there now including the new mixdeck thingy whose name escapes me. I would suggest seeing one before buying, second hand prices should be good, around £400 I think.
