Hi guys. I know you are not really allowed to have a compitition to increase your "likes" on facebook. I was wondering if there were any rules regarding giving money to charity.
I have a charity that is close to my heart, and I had an idea that I could give a certain amount of money for every new "like" that I received over a certain period. Now I know this would help me, but it would also help the charity.
Would this be a good idea or not. What do you think.
Thanks in advance.

No thoughts on this guys. Is it legal/would facebook be ok with it?

Really not sure about any of it, Mike, as I've not seen anything on the subject - despite looking through the T&Cs (but then again, one page refers you to another ad infinitum, so that doesn't mean to say there isn't anything there!)
If we can look at it from another way, you say that you can't solicit 'Likes' as entry to a competition - but many Pages do this on a regular basis, so if you can point us in the right direction for your source for that piece of information, may be we can use that as a starting point and take it from there?

Thanks for your reply Angela. All I really did was "google" facebook and competitions. It brought up a few different replys where people were trying to fathom out facebook T&Cs, which seem to be a bit of a minefield.
What seemed to be coming out of it was that, although it would be very difficult for facebook to track anyone down for promoting a competition, if they did catch anyone, they could close their business page down!
I don't want to run the risk of that, even though, technically, I would not be running a competiton, just donating money to charity, for likes to my page.
Thank again
Mike

Problem is, things like this go round like Chinese Whispers, and people misinterpret things / twist things, and before long, what's being posted bears no resemblance to the original. I would never just take the word of anyone else without seeing the original source material.
See if you can find the relevant terms on Facebook itself, and if you need any help in interpreting, I'll be happy to do what I can.
Not much help, I know, but the best I can offer at the moment, I'm afraid.

I know we've had a chat about this Mike, but here's a link to Facebook's rules regarding competitions and promotions.

Facebook page competitions nowadays, seem to involve not only liking the page, but tagging a photo, sharing a post, commenting on a photo etc. Although that still seems to be against Facebook rules.
