View Full Version : Trussing ... again
Thinking ahead I would like to have lighting rig options and there are times when I would like to put out a 4m or even 6m truss in for example bigger rooms.
At the moment I have the ultimax overhead so the natural thing to do would to be get more ultimax overhead, but the problem is that you are only able to have 3m between the stands and I may want to bigger spreads.
I dont really have the room for full size truss in my car but the ultimax fits :D
Are there any alternative, stronger, viable options. Small tri-truss or ladder truss ?
Thanks

I believe you can only do a 3m span with Trusslite?

the bit where it says 'To comply with UK legislation, supports should be a maximum of 3m apart' so it would mean I would need additional support to fill a 6m span, which i think would look a bit odd.

I wonder what the maximum overhang is ?
The picture shows a 4.5m truss with what looks like 1m overhang at each end and 2.5 in the centre span.
Provided it was properly loaded so that it was balanced either side of the tripods I dont see why you couldnt have 1.5 + 3 + 1.5m

I don't know what legislation they have been reading! :daft: Some of the spans that I have seen are well over 3m...

They're probably just talking about the Ultimax stuff and working it out on the load bearing just for that rather than other truss.

I was thinking about that overnight because Trusslite would work best as I have all the brackets.
I will contact ultimax and see if I can get some more detailed load ratings but looking at 60kg for the WinchPro system maybe I need to look at something more substantial.
Obviously this is thinking ahead but I was thinking
- Mid Size rig - 4 LED movers (circa 10kg each) on 4m truss.
- Large Rig - 4 LED Movers + 2 EFX500 on 6m truss.
This would to be able use space available adequately rather than looking like a tiny setup in a vast space. Some clubs and venues have massive stages
