...40 metres length and a big top holding approx 350 quests?

I have been asked to quote for this but i'm afraid my rig might not be enough on its own. I have 2 QSC k12 and 3 rcf 902. I could also borrow a pair of Mackies if necessary or should I recommend they hire a bigger rig?

I'm not a noise boy myself so can't comment at all about your available kit, but I can say you'd do best to find out more info about the marquee and layout - just because it's 40m long doesn't mean you're going to have to fill it with sound, and also you've not mentioned width. Marquees generally get higher the wider they are. And you mention a big top - does that mean that it's a 'circus tent' rather than a marquee? Is the marquee lined? What's the event - if it's speeches for a school you're going to need a completely different system to if it's a drum and bass rave!

Hi I am a sound/noise boy. It all depends on what the client wants as said above the width etc. If they want full or even part coverage then at that length you would probably need a small linearray most likely flown. Do you need to supply lighting as well. If so sounds like a flown truss type job, etc.

If it is for a live band event in a Marquee then a Linearray would be ideal but if it is the typical meal plus a disco this would be an overkill.
Sound in a marquee gets "lost" so generally more power is required than a hall.
The sound needs only cover the dance floor so I would expect you set up to be enough with the Mackies.

You are correct it wont be enough,my suggestion is you have at least 5k front of house with some relay monitors half way down the marquee.Beware you may have a delay so a processor to compensate for this would be useful.:)
