im looking to buy a laser for the first time, my budget is tight sadly at the moment, a thick beam one would be ideal to get that tube effect.
of the ones below what is the most reliable and has best effect

Equinox Capricorn
Kam Star Cluster 140i v2
Equinox Kamikaze
Equinox Nimbus

As far as I can see all but the Kamikaze are cluster lasers, so they won't give you the 'tube/tunnel' effect I think you're after. Some of the sequences in the Kamikaze might be ok for you though.

thanks, are there any other beside the kamikaze that do tunnels and wide thick beams red and green budget wise, also is the kamikaze out of date so to speak
and is it reliable

unsure what you mean buy think beam? as the lower the divergence the brighter the laser looks.
the kamikaze as Shaun said seems to be the only one that isn't a drifted laser.
it also dosnt look like it will do a very good tunnel.

that said it depends what the tunnel is for?

looking at the cluster lasers on youtube thats not the effect im looking for
i will using it for more rock music inspired events

i went to a rock music inspired 70's event and they had what looked like when music was playing thick shafts of light turning, they could go vertical or horizontal or make a tube effect, ans sometimes it looked like a giant wide beam coming down over our heads, i was amazed, it was one color green

If you have £199 to spend take a look at the KAM 550RB laser as it's slightly different and has nice beams and a nice effect too. I'm not sure if I am allowed to link on this forum, but here goes...

Ok I use 2 of these, give a great effect with haze and you can set for tunnels or animation, fully dmx or standalone, really smooth scanning.

Just under £100 each

Build quality is good, standard 3 pin xlr for dmx, iec socket for mains (one reason I went cos they just slotted on my pre-wired crossbar) I have used Lexlighting cheap lasers and these are far superior, as good a build quality as my Equinox nebular.
Hope this is helpful

if you want a violet and green may i suggest a laser manufactured with those colours.

buy swapping the diode you may need to swap anther components such as uv filters if fitted in order to make the laser safe - you could be endanger people as you don't know what your doing.

Agree totally, would not play around with the insides of lasers unless you really know what you are doing.
