I have read a lot of posts, and a few people shy away from kids parties. While I mostly do adults functions, I have to say that the kids / teen ones we do are probably the most relaxed and great fun. We will do from 12 -16 typically, so more teenagers, but I have found getting them onto the floor and keeping them there is actually quite easy compared to many adult functions, no bar to compete with!

We don't generally coordinate games, but we consult with parents and share a few ideas and get them involved, and it seems to work for us. Glow sticks and rope for limbo is also a hit, with very little effort. And prepping up with the very latest charts is actually great too! So anyone who doesn't do them, give it a try!

I love doing kids parties.

...and I'd rather slurp the jelly from my own eyes. Diff'rent strokes, and all that...

I employed another local disco (Devon Discos) to do my childs birthday only last week, rather than do it myself, and a great job he did too.

I am with you heartandsoul. They are very enjoyable. IMO one of the things that makes them enjoyable is that most of the attendees are about the same age. Rather than say a wedding or an adult birthday party, where there can be a range of ages.

Kids parties are my bread and butter.
We do coordinate games etc and they can be quite knackering, but very rewarding at the same time.

Bloody knackering if you ask me - then I don't have kids so I spose you get used to them :D
They loose interest every ten mins - I love kids parties but its such hard work - or am i missing something?

I would find a dog training day a walk in the park.

Depends... Some 13 year olds are more interested in there phones than dancing! lol... oh they ask for a song dance for the first two minutes and then get bored and then get there phones out! Makes me laugh it does.

And on then phones I bet there not getting the latest snooker score either!

I must admit I enjoy doing the kids parties, but I do have children of my own so you sort of know what they like and don't like and that does make it easier.

As most members know I also specialise in Children's parties for the 5yr - 11yr age group and boy fun is not the word for it.

It is my bread and butter and I would not change anything, the crazier the better and they lap it up.

At least with kids there's not so much chance of some drunk coming up and demanding you play the song that'll make 'veryone dance to it' lol

Kids parties are good little earners, but they're Mary's domain, not mine. She's a natural with them. I couldn't do them. I like kids but I couldn't eat a whole one:D :D

We do kids parties, but specify 10+ only and that we are DJs and not kids entertainers.

As others have said, will do some music related games, best dancer competitions etc coordinating with the parent, but in my opinion if they want a kids entertainer then they should hire one.

Worked with one before and they were really good. Charged a packet mind.

agree with you here, if we were any better as childrens entertainers, we would be making much more out of it.
Perhaps there should be a coming together of skills at some point in time

trouble i find you get there, set up play some music, then some other adult comes along and says what else you gonna do . . i mean really !!!
