Anyone suggest and cd's that are good for disco classics, were doing a 60th wedding anniversary this weekend and they do not want any modern stuff, just 60s,70s and 80s....we got loads of the stuff but what would you rate as the best tunes....

I agree - they are really good, although I think they focus on the 80s most. They are still available - I see them in HMV a lot :)

I counted about 16 in that list that would work 70-80% of the time in a disco set... which is a pretty good amount. Most compilation CDs have less than that.

You could also try Amazon Marketplace and get it a lot cheaper than £15! :)

Is that so? I must remember to tell my audiences they're dancing when they shoudn't be! I don't really think that I need anyone to tell me what to play from the golden age of disco- I was there, I haven't read about it in a book or on a forum, I was out three or four nights a week, living it.

You had a personal dig at me though. Implying that because of my age - all I know is from books and forums?! I happen to have an extensive knowledge of the disco era, and I know what works for me on the dancefloor. In my opinion, if you are going to be playing 60s, 70s, and 80s - there is only time for the strongest of tracks in terms of filling the floor.

With the greatest of respect in 1977 (Peak of the disco boom)you were still six years away from being born, so any knowledge you have of that period can only be at best , second-hand. If you are only playing (IYHO)the strongest tracks from each era does this mean that you continually play the same tracks.

Agreed. I was doing a 50th birthday a few years back and the audience was very boring until I chanced This Ole' House. The night suddenly came alive!
