What's the age group of the party go-ers?

They're not all going to be 60 are they?

urm..
my dad is going to turn 60 next year so..
THings like the Rat pack, jools holland, michael buble, other jazz etc appeals to him.. but not sure if that is just because he has a different taste or if thats the in things for 60 year olds.. i find it varys too be honest.. maybe drop them a line asking what genre of music they want?

Ask your customer & don't generalise people's taste by their age.

My mum is 60 & he likes everything from rock'n'roll (from her childhood) to irish folk (Dubliners, Fureys etc) to Goth & much more.

Let's see you generalise what she would like for her birthday party?

^^ yeh added onto my post i should say that because my dad also sometimes drives me about / roadies with me (for the older peoples birthday parties etc.) he has a very wide range of music and all credit to him.. in the beginning of my disco 'years' he helped loads listening to different tracks to see what was good.. although now I have a comprehensive knowledge he doesn't do it hardly at all.. but my point is that he also likes and will happily listen to any music as long as it isn't rap.. but even then he doesn't go 'ahhh rap'

best thing as said is to ask the customer i did one recently and the chap gave me loads of songs from his school days and life that meant something to him and his guests. was mainly 60s and 70s stuff.

It's probably been said 100 times on here before, and will probably be said many times in the future, and it's already been said on this thread....... Talk to your customers; find out as much about their tastes and also about the guests as you can.

mate, you really need to ask!
Dont presume because they could want anything at the end of the day!!

[edit.. angela got there first!!)

At the end of the day.. if you are interested and ask questions about what they want you will come across as the better and more professional service.. maybe leading to future bookings..

He wouldn't have been 60 now to have been at school in those eras though

Exactly!

Anyway, how do you go about taking a booking without ever making contact (in person/on phone/via email) with the client?!

I always get all, or most of, the information I need when I take a booking - and that includes the type of music required (although more often than not, they have heard me before, and just want a similar sort of playlist)

Fly me over then, and I'll do it.

Yamaha StagePAS300 and a spare pair of pants should do.

I'm a single parent and I want to request for your assistant towards my party. I have a birthday in June 8th so I want to give a party and that is the more reason am requesting for your assistance in other to plan birthday ahead.

I also want you to know that I'm a contractor and I travel alot. My company just won a new contract in NJ,USA and I wont be around for a while so i'll not like my cats to be alone at home.

I would like to know how much you charge.
