This thread got me thinking (not ofter, granted) about 5 disco classics (70's or 80's) you wouldn't normally play at a mainstream disco. For me:-

Can you feel the force - Real Thing

Boogie Oogie Oogie - Taste of Honey

British Hustle - Hi Tension

Six Million Steps - Rhani Harris

London Town - Light of the World

I have played of these at various Disco Classics nights in the past.

Gene Chandler - Get down
Hamilton Bohannon III - Let's start the dance
Lonnie Liston-Smith - Expansions (possibly not disco - more jazz/funk)
Gary's Gang - Keep on dancing
Jimmy James and the Vagabonds - Now is the time

I was going for mainly 70s there though.

Carl Carlton - She's a bad mama jama
Hi Tension - Hi tension
Gibson Brothers - Que sera ma vida
Mystique - In the Bush
Silver Convention - Get up and Boogie

Silver Convention - Get up and Boogie

Which, not strangely :bat: was one of my choices, but I use to play it a lot when I first started, so I discounted it.

AND :bat: :bat: I would have said;
Gene Chandler - Get down

But you got there first!! :)

Are you sure you weren't the first DJ I trained with years ago and got a lot of my musical influences from?

Did you used to have ginger hair and drink lager a lot?

:bat: I can safely say I have never had ginger hair, or drunk lager (kids drink!) But there's definately some sort of mind transference going on!! :lightning

OK, my 80s selection is thus...(not really sure if these are correctly catergorised, but anyway)

Change - A lovers Holiday
Julia and Co - Breakin' Down
Thelma Houston - You used to hold me so tight
Amii Stewart - Friends
Viola Wills - Dare to a dream

Might have been getting a bit souly there and might have inadvertantly moved the goalposts a bit, but it looks like no-one else knows what we're on about anyway!!!

I do, and Amii Stewart's a classic.
