Samsung pub tv

Hi,
I was in my local pub at the weekend and the barman asked me if I could do a karaoke for him, He wants it through his samsung tv on the wall so I had a quick look at the tv and couldn't work out how I can plug my laptop into it as its attached to the wall. I know it can be done because another dj has done karaokes in there, another option is to take my own flatscreen tv but i would be neater and safer to use his.
any ideas how i can do it?
My laptop does not have hdmi

If it's a reasonably new flatscreen TV you'll probably find that the TV has a VGA in connection so you can straight from monitor output on your laptop to the TV. Making a note of the TV model will get you the manual online, which will give you a full list of the connectors ;)

The box you've bought which will give you three different ways to connect - every way apart from HDMI in fact - so you should be ok anyway.

As glen said, will do the job, unless the tv in question has a VGA input already, I though most newish tv's did these days :)

I'm pretty sure it will have a vga input but getting to it is the problem as its on the wall, I did see rca connections on the side and I have a vga to rca lead so hopefully i'm good to go

Erm, I can see the advantage of the box but why the cable? :confused:

I'm not sure how that cable can even work. The VGA output from the computer is not the same signal as the composite RCA inputs in to a PAL tv. The VGA signal has to be processed via some electronic convertor before it can be understood by PAL. I have to say, I'm pretty bewildered at that one!

Mind you, even if it did work, it'd be no use to me as 1.8m is nowhere near the cable length I use to run signals to the big screens - or even to the video distribution boxes in some of the venues I play at.

The convertor box should do the trick, though!

The reason I put the cable up is because I already have it and thought it might be of use but maybe not, Karaoke is not something I do very often.

Gotcha!! Actually, my tv has those inputs. Never knew what they were for!

Got one of the cheaper converter boxes, bit of an issue with a faulty vga lead but changed that and happy days.
