Seems to be getting more common. Had one person call me last tuesday to cover a birthday party on the friday and had another today to enquire if I can cover one on saturday night

I get very few last minute bookings, yet last night I took a booking for an uplighting job today, hence being up since 530 and about to set off.

I've had a few of these over the last 2-3 weeks, but not converted any. All fairly low-end venues.

I took a phone call from someone desperate for a wedding dj in Thirsk last Friday night at 9pm:eek:

Needless to say I don't think that one will have got covered

Getting last minute booking more and more , birthdays within a week , even weddings less than two weeks away , mostly less well paid , it seems that some people leave it to the last minute , and see if they can get a reduced price....:(

Why the :( ?

Surely last-minute bookings are diary-fillers? Better than no booking at all :)

:agree: Will always be open to negotiation on the price for late bookings, better to be out working than sat at home :D

the :( was to the clients that seem to think that by booking late , they get a discount , half my work this year has been bookings less that two weeks before the event.

Gotcha. :( indeed. Well I guess you can thank Bridal mags and forums for this kind of practice.

If anyone tries to shave a few quid by booking everything late, especially for something like a wedding, then they obviously aren't concerned about what they end up with so long as the price is right.

If I was still gigging then this wouldn't be my kind of customer, and if I did happen to have availability then it would be offered at the usual rate. Take or leave.

We are getting loads of last minute bookings, some of which are DJ ones. To give you an idea, a couple of weeks ago we had about 10 bookings in for this weekend, now we are up to 24!!!

I'm not sure if people are less organised or just waiting to see what budget they have left nearer the date.

Either way its good for us :)

Not so much on the disco front as i'm proper choka booked up.

But on the postboxes and Giant party games are certainly getting some last minute stuff for them.

Had a call at lunchtime today for Giant connect , Giant Jenga and the buzz wire to go to a venue that's on the way to tomorrows wedding so that's a result!
