Mounting moving heads to winch pods/stands.

I'm looking to mount a couple of heads to Ultimax winch pods 32mm, will just the Ultimax top casting suffice with a head bolted to it? Slightly worried about safety, the heads weigh 10kgs so not mad heavy but heavy enough for me to be concerned.

Anyone who mounts heads to tripod stands, how are you doing it?

I have used speaker top hats before, which worked ok. Mounted on speaker stands btw, not uprights, mine are Imove 5s, which are 12kgs.

i use top castings to put the efx's on the uprights but they are static,don't think i would like to try the same method with movers.

If you are not in a mad rush i will be getting the very same movers in the next week and I hope to trial them at a wedding next weekend

How much are they and do you order them from there? The winch pids are 32mm they looked smaller to me for some reason.

I got mine from Thomann as part of a larger delivery, however I think it might still be cheaper to order from Thomann even with the delivery charge.

I will be interested to find out how much 'stand movement' they generate. The DSB is pretty stable and I will try to run them on slow programs.

Do you have the UC3 type controller for yours Mark? How have you run them so far?

I've mounted 12kg movers to the vertical poles on my ultimax stand in the past using ultimax top castings. They were pretty steady. I think you'll be fine Mark. :beer1:

Ah result, mine are 10kg, I'll order some and have a bash at it. Cheers Shaun !
