Ipod to PA System

Hi,

I've just been asked to provide a PA system that can have an ipod plugged into it. I was hoping to use a pair of W-Audio PSR-12A speakers that I ususally use for PA systems, however I'm unsure of the most versatile way of connecting the ipod into the system.

Ideally I'd like a reasonable quality mixer with RCA input (for ipod lead) and then pair of XLR balanced outputs. I realise I could purchase a standard Numark CM200 or something similar, flight case it and there we go....but is this the best method for such situations? All advice greatly appreciated.

If they just want to connect the iPod to the speakers (and nothing else), then just get a set of XLR to phono cables and then a 3.5mm jack to phono connector and feed the speakers straight off the iPod. I do this all the time for dry hire's and it saves providing additional equipment.

If you must have a mixer then there's a ton of small desktop 4, 6 or 8 channel mixers on the market that will do the job.
