Rig Hire - Set up and ready to party!

Hi all,

As my business seems to be growing and growing, I am thinking of going down the hire out route.

By this I mean, I will come to the venue, set up, you play what you need to play and I will pack all set up away.

I have moving heads, pars, trussing, star cloths, video walls, projectors, plasmas, sound, CDJ's, and loads more......

So far I have mainly hired to bands for sound and lights, and now thinking just provide a service so you can drive to the venue in your car with your laptop, and then drive away........

No more cut hands, no carrying flightcases up emergency exits, no loading the van at 2200hrs etc etc!


Just wondering how many DJ's would take advantage of this and how much you expect to pay?

Not sure how much work you will get from djs. You want to look more at event promotors.

Where are you based? While normally I would want to take my own as I have paid for it so want to earn from it but at times days are just to busy so this could be an option.

I understand what you mean about using your own equipment..... As we are all in it for the profit...

I'm thinking of going down the route of approaching all hotels etc for corporate events etc.

There is a company down here called donthireadj.com or something like that. He charges £200 for a basic PA and a couple of lights to be delivered and setup, knocks about £25 off if you collect and return yourself.

Seemed a bit pointless to be as for £200 you can get a half decent DJ.

Most of his work is for 16th/18th's where "my friend of a friend is a dj but has no equipment".

Don't make much impact down here with my work but thought the prices might be of use to you.

I think one off items like video walls, led walls, projectors and other corporate events may be more down the line I want to go.

Depends really, the going rates down here are anything between £200-£400, then of course you have those who do it for £60-£100.

I think probably 90% of my work now is weddings as I get the impression Birthdays are now done as cheap as possible and people will take a DJ for £100 for those sort of functions, where as weddings people are prepared to spend out more.

Of course, prices vary in different parts of the country, no idea what rates are where you are based, but the south-east is known to be more expensive for just about everything than say in Scotland.

I think things like projectors and pa systems are a good idea. I am about to start pushing my liteconsole as a hire item along with TV screens or a projector for shows/demos/presentations etc.
