I've just been having a debate with my Dad over this (http://www.xs4all.nl/~fsgroen/Top100's/2006Qreaders.html), and why the Stranglers aren't in it ("if the Sex Pistols are, the Stranglers should be!"), so I attempted to decide on my top ten albums of all time, at this moment in time.

And here they are, only the top 2 are in definite order :

1. Radiohead - OK Computer
2. U2 - The Joshua Tree
3. Radiohead - The Bends
4. The Smiths - The Queen Is Dead
5. Oasis - Definitely Maybe
6. Mansun - Six
7. The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds
8. Oasis - (What's The Story) Morning Glory
9. Stevie Wonder - Songs In The Key Of Life
10. The Prodigy - The Fat Of The Land

I would be interested to see others' choices? :)

I probably should have said Greatest Hits and compilation albums didn't count in this context, as all the best artists/bands can't fit their greatest hits onto a CD :)

Were you referring to the old 'archetypal' studio album where a group or artist was trying to'say' something or lay down their own special musical moment in time?

I would say greatest hits albums could be just as interesting as they show the development of an artist/group over time.

Well, it's more that a Greatest Hits album is always going to be stronger than a single album, and all the best artists need at least 2 or 3 CDs to compile a greatest hits. Plus there is always good stuff like interludes and linking tracks which are out of place on a seperate compilation, but put the finishing touches to an album :)

Errm, indeed my friend.

There's not alot you could tell me about The Sweet though. I grew up with them (not in the biblical sense of course!)
I've got stacks of their music and DVD's.
I've met Andy Scott.
AND...I've got Brians autograph from the last gig he did, at Butlins in Bognor, before he passed away. He came on stage with a zimmer frame and oxygen bottle......and sang like he was 20!

Weeeeeeeelllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll ,

I knew Andy & Mick (I used to have a pair of Mick's old platforms) as well as the rest of the members of "Andy Scott's Sweet" & I've met Steve. Angela has an autographed copy of Sweet Sixteen (It's, it's the Sweet's hits) from when she "babysat" Brian on one occasion. Ner! :ner: :ner: :ner: :ner:

Ner! :ner: :ner: :ner: :ner:I have to say that it was one of the most awkward evenings of my life! I knew the Promoter fairly well and Brian was doing a 'promotion' at a club I used to go to regularly and I was asked to look after him for the evening (mid 1980's)..... but Brian wasn't exactly the 'promoting' type and trying to get him to talk to anyone was like extracting teeth!!!!!!
