Wish I had given a bit more though to my DIY subs.
In the beginning I built 2 X 1x12" subs , as these were light and fitted under the stand , fitted with BMS drivers at 4ohm each , powered by a berry EP2500.
All well and good , but I seem to be running out of headroom on the berry , and the subs are getting on to their safe limit (600w AES).
So here lies the problem , if I built two more subs , and did two a side ( there is a twin sub version seen at SEDA) , driven from the same amp , comes out at 2 ohms a side , the berry , al-thou a reasonable amp , dont like driving a 2 ohm load for long , so I was thinking about buying another w - audio Horizin SMPS amp , possibly the 1100 and running a pair of subs from each amp , only this time stacking the subs each side with a speaker pole to the tops , probably have to make a custom speakon cable , four core split into two discreet pairs , each pair having a nutrik connector , come to think about it , maybe a six core cable , split into three pairs to carry the signal to the tops , therefore only one (thick) cable.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing , if I had loaded the subs with 8ohm drivers , adding another pair would only be 4 ohms a side , well within the berrys capability's.
Is there any other way , that does not involve scraping the pair of subs , mainly because each sub cost around £350 , and as good as they are , DIY stuff holds no real re-sale value....:(

But surely if youd have opted for 8 ohm drivers your amp would have only put out a measley 450 watts per channell instead of you 600 watts its currently outputting so your homemady bass bins might not have appeared to have been any good as they would be much more quieter than they are now?
Personally i think you might be wanting too much out of a 12 inch tranducer but the only option appears to be.... Build 2 more at 4 ohms and buy another amplifier.I find home build pretty interesting please keep us updated on this project.
I wouldnt expect the Behringer Amp to last long at 2 Ohms incidentally.so id certainly not explore that possibility.

If you get desperate if a pair of QSC amps currently keeping the lock up door open!

Or how about the Excalibur Thinking Outside The Box Low Cost Scenario? If another pair of subs is likely to cost around £700 on your figure, plus the cost of an amp, how about adding one active sub? Whether you'd have room to fit the blighter under the stand with the others, I don't know.

The 12" ones I found on ebay wouldn't keep up with your self build ones, but might add just enough oomph for what you want, and would be fairly flexible.
