Disco related, a couple of eBay bargains spring to mind, I won a pair of OHM BR12 speakers for around £150 which were a good buy at the time, but the real bargain were the 6 x OHM Moon speakers the seller offered me for £5 each (£30) these were sold on ebay for a unexpected £800. A second great buy were 3 Martin mini macs bought on a 'buy it now' for the grand sum of £150 (£50 each) one need a lamp, the other 2 needed very minor attention, but otherwise perfect.
Non disco items, I frequently attend live auctions, and over the years have found incredible bargains, especially in 'mixed lots' including an art nouveau plate bought for a tenner and sold for over three hundred quid, I did know what it was however. If you are capable of identifying 'Quality' they're still fantastic bargains to be found at car boots, antique fairs, local auctions houses and charity shops, etc etc, if you make the effort. Non hallmarked foreign gold, and other precious metal set with real gemstones still turns up regularly, and is mistaken for costume jewellery.

A guy on the orange froum just yesterday purchased two qsc k12s and 2 ksubs for £900 and covers at a auction of closed down businesses! Nearly £4000 to buy new and this was new gear!

An original Now 4 CD, 50p from a boot sale.

Sold for £350 on eBay.

£350?

I've got the complete Now collection - all original and including the Decades and special editions - and the first few are on double vinyl. Looking at prices on eBay, I doubt I'd get £350 for the lot!! There's someone selling cassette versions and asking for £25 a pop but doesn't look like there's any interest.

Mind you, a lot of sellers are calling the early ones "retro". Maybe I should have them valued?

I paid the full RRP for the vast majority of them (from Woolies - remember them? :daft: )

If it's bargains in general then I have a couple of decent ones to mention:

Car Boot Sale a few years back - Found a mint condition 10" white label of 'Columbia' by Oasis. It was put out by record companies in very small quantities to test the water and appeared on the first album. I knew what I was looking for as I'd been sent one by the promo list I was on and was playing it every week at one of my residencies. It cost me £2.00. I kept it for a while and then sold it to a guy in America who offered me £1200.00 for it.

I also picked up a very rare Gary Numan hard to find coloured vinyl version of one of his singles at a Jumble Sale. I was actually setting up a Disco on the stage in the hall for a 40th Birthday later that night where the Jumble Sale was being held and noticed a box of records and it was the first 7" sticking out of the box. I looked at it, took the vinyl from the cover and thought "Wow!". I used to collect his stuff and knew what it was worth. I put it on you know where and it sold for £135.00. It cost me 20p!

Disco bargains....Can't think of any that I've had although I did get a very nice discount on my new RCF 705's.
