New Music App On The Apple Store...

Hi All,

Every now and then I have a look through the Top 25 "Must haves" on the Apple Store and have just come across an app called 'Free Music Downloads'

It is currently ranked at number 4 and costs £0.69 to buy...but surely it can't be legal?

Once you have purchased the app, it gives you access to a database where you can just download music from.

So, does anyone know the rules on this? Surely if it is illegal (As I suspect), why are apple promoting it? :confused:

There's loads of software that comes with free music downloads and they are perfectly legal. I don't know anything about Apple apps but I do know about marketing and my first thought would be that the app is ad-supported. After all, you can get loads of free stuff if you're prepared to sit through a few adverts first.

Presumably Bands trying to promote themselves---not established Artists like say Madonna or Lady Gaga that would be used on DJ gigs?
