SMS Marketing

Hi all,

I am looking for advice on SMS software.

I want to send out about 50 txts a day and have autoresponders (when required)

Can anyone make any recommendations for software.

Potential minefield alert!!! Don't forget you can't just send out unsolicited (spam) SMSs to people. They have to opt in to your mailing lists and you have to give them the option to opt out at anytime. And I'm not sure if this has happened yet but there was talk of extending the Telephone Preference Service to cover SMS messages sent to mobile numbers so you may need to check your mailing list numbers against the TPS lists.

I would recomment txtlocal.co.uk.

You should alway check against TPS for every campaign to avoid potential heavy fines.

Each time you screen your data you have 28 days to use it before you should rescreen, if anyone needs any help screening against TPS and CTPS (corporate telephone preference service) then let me know as I have access to the base, there are small royalty charges, but an audit is Free.

Take a look here. I have this software and it's a great bit of kit. I've used it both as rear projection with live video feeds and also with a high powered laser. Although I've not used it myself there is a direct link to VDJ.

Thanks for the warning Daz - all my subscribers will be opted in by choice.

What it is - I part-own a bar on a Spanish Island and from the bars website people will be able to register for text alerts while on the island with info and drink offers as a way of enticing them into the bar. They can also have the option to opt out at any time.

After their stay on the island I can either choose to remove them from the database or retain (assuming they have opted in).

All you need to do then is give them the option to STOP receiving the marketing SMS messages with each campaign sent.
Won't the client get charged to receive the texts as they will be roaming outside their own country of mobile contract. I must admit I can't remember how this works now, may not be an issue.

I've just had a thought. I'm sure one of the mobile phones I have (or had) came with some PC software that, as well as syncing with the phone, allowed you to compose SMS messages from the PC and sent them, through the phone itself, to multiple recipients if required. It might have been my Sony Ericcson (Sony Companion software?) one but I can't remember. I'll have a look later on. Obviously, you'd be paying full price for SMSs unless you have them included in your package.

Just checked - yep, Sony Companion can do this for you!! :)
