DJ Olympics.

Following on from an earlier thread where there was a bit of negativity towards the Olympics , my question is......what would be the pinnacle of your Dj'ing career, ie what would be your gold medal performance. For example would it be playing at Buckingham Palace for royalty or maybe playing at Wembley as a warm up act for the Stones etc.
Another thing to think about is a 4 year plan if you have one, all athletes work extremely hard to get where they are and while we all work hard sometimes we get gigs by having someone in the know so some luck is involved.

What a great question!!

For me the gold medal of my career was compering / performing at a big charity event that raised a lot of money for a cancer charity. I was blown away by the support we received that night.

As for the four year plan - what a timely question! Big changes are afoot in my personal / career life which may have a massive effect on my DJing and I'm currently planning a path to get me to where I want to be in the next 5 years (with an emphasis on reaching certain targets by the time I'm 40!). Can't say much as the moment as the situation is out of my hands for the next couple of weeks and I don't want to tempt fate! ;)

At present it was organising and performing alongside 5 local bands to raise money for heroes Haven http://www.heroes-haven.org.uk/ but next year i am comparing and performing at the cancer research 24hr relay for life, now that's going to be a challange.

Couple of 'Golds' for me as there are a couple that stand out.
Firstly, I DJ'd alongside Gary Numan a couple of years ago which was pretty cool.
Secondly, the largest crowd I have played to when DJing was at Southampton Guildhall for a University Christmas Party. I did an hour set to a packed Guildhall (couple of thousand people I think?). There were 4 DJ's doing different 1 hour sets and I was in the middle doing an Alternative set which had the best reaction. As soon as I started they went mad for it and I felt really good on stage going through the massive sound system.

My ideal gig? Doing what John Peel used to do and compere and DJ at the Reading and Glastonbury festivals and get the crowd going.

4 year plan? I don't really have one at the moment. I just want to keep doing what I am doing and improve year upon year which seems to have happened. Ideally by the time I hit 50 I'd like to be able to sit back and have lots of others working for me.
