Advice on buying Projectors

Hi Guys,

My next purchase is going to be a projector, I've had a look around and I'm sure I need a Short throw projector.

I want to use it for gigs to make slideshows if the customer requires, project the bride and grooms name on the floor (needs to be bright) and maybe pop my logo under my table on my lycra table scrim. I also want to watch some films at home :)

My main concern is for DJing so I'm quite sure I need Short throw and a bright lamp. Any idea of things I might also need would be very helpful as I've never looked at projectors before so not sure what is good and what isn't.

I would recommend the Benq MX850UST or MW815UST both of these are ultra short throw and will produce a 60 inch picture from a distance of only 514mm will go right out to a picture of 300 inches from 2.7m very bright ,i have some just down the road in Dorchester if you want a demo pm me

That's pretty impressive, I was looking at those type with the mirrors etc but they are a bit out of my price range, decided to go with a Optoma GT750 which are about half the price. Throw distance is about double though!

Check the prices or replacment lamps before buying one, they have a life but that will be shortened if your lugging it around a lot, I can actually buy a projector including lamp cheaper than replacing the lamp on 2 of ours.

I've been looking at projectors for the last 2 weeks and that was something I looked up - cost around £80 for a "compatible lamp" or £120 for one from the manufacturer.
Not sure if that's cheap or not as it's my first projector but it doesn't seem unreasonable ... 3000hrs lamp life - not as much as some but still think that's quite a long time!

Not to bad, last time I brought a lamp it was £173.97, different projector to yours but cheapest lamp I could find anywhere

May be an idea for me to buy a replacement bulb now as I assume the older the projector gets the less demand for the bulbs and the higher the price?

Are the chinese replacements any good? They are less than half the price of a genuine one.

Don't Know when I got my first projector the lamps were something around the £250.00 mark the last one I brought was £173.97 so they had dropped in price.

@djrobentertainment honestly wouldn't like to say I don't know, could be just as good, better or like some of the chineese metal products and really poor quality.

Screw it, I'll buy this one at £53 quid is it goes its not a big loss
