Hi Guys,

Any chance of opinions on the new website design:

http://shockwave.phasemedia.co.uk

Only the first page is working at the mo. Don't want to do the rest of the pages if everyone thinks the design is crap.

Cheers :)

The overall design looks good. Fast loading pages win hands down over fancy flash animations etc. any day. As has been said already, use bigger text and go for lighter contrasting colours. After all, your website is your shop window so bright and cheery :omg: as opposed to dull and boring  is the way to go.

I would add a pic of your set up or a filled dancefloor to the home page to liven it up more. A good pic might help sell you in those vital few seconds people hit on your site.

Overall it looks good :)

Like it alot!
Love the colours combo.

Laybe try spacing the links out or make them bolder.
Agree you need to take the font up a couple of points at least.

Isn't there a law about websites for people with disabilities - i.e. you can not discriminate against people with poor eyesight?? Maybe worth looking into. I'll dig out the article (in one of my design mags) and post the details on here - unless someone knows it already.

Cheers for the comments guys. I've made a few adjustments already, but Ill try and address all the tips made:

Text Size
Agreed, it looked ok in photoshop but didnt translate well into dreamweaver.

Dark Colours
I tried to distinguish it from other sites in the company. If you check www.phasemedia.co.uk you'll see why it needed to be a bit different from the group site.

Fast Loading
Yep, this was one of the main objectives. It did have a lot more graphics at first, with a spark shower to one side, but it took too long to load. There will be a couple of flash animations going on, but only banners advertising christmas availability.

Images Of Disco
There will be a full gallery put in, but im not sure how i'd squeeze a pic of the disco on to the front page. I'll have a look though and try.

If anyones got any more comments, it's always appreciated.

djbigdevs, you're spot on. There is discrimination advice given, although it only actually applies to government and public funded bodies. However, i've notched up the font size to reccomended minimum.

Cheers

Nice looking site. I would increase the text size by one pixel. Also regarding images, why not add a small image to the left of each paragraph. Maybe not of your rig but maybe a picture of a bride next to weddings etc.

seriously ... i switched to a black background for 6 weeks and enquiries slowed up dramatically ... now gone back to my clouds and had 2 bookings before 10 am this morning. one of the best websites ive seen and it is just a personal favourite is music in motions website in peterborough...Andy and mrs Andy have really thought about it and i think it really works and is successful

i was always told as well sell yourself and your service why not get your best togs on and put a smart pic of yourself up?

hey maybe that could be another thread?? anyone dare to start us off?

Ive always been against black as a background. I think your orange shockwave logo is good and would stand out with a different background, or in its own black background but with a ligter page
