As a few of you may know i started doing photography and i was wondering what people thought of my pics ?

It's great that you're starting something new but I would be really disappointed with those wedding photographs. I really don't think you're ready to capture what will be the most important day of somebody's life.

It looks very amateur at the moment. Like everything, I'm sure in a couple of months/year they'll look ten times better.

Can't you do shoots for up & coming models to go in their portfolio? Taking on weddings is a bit risky at the moment IMO.

Some of the photos you've uploaded too aren't suitable for a business FB page. If I was a bride looking for a photographer, I wouldn't want to see someone's hair arse. :lol:

I do a lot of amatuer stuff myself the biggest problem i see is incorect exposure values. What f stop and shutter speed are you using you may want to experiment with a faster lens or indirect flash.
I like to make use of available light sources or bouncing flash to get a more natural effect.
Also I notice the lens is not suited to portrait you need a 1.7 - 2.8 f stop with a 50mm for best portrait. It allows better depth of field and the lower f stop is hand for providing highlights an nd filter can be used in daylight to prevent over exposure.

It all depends on where i am as to what values i use, ive got a 50mm on order some of them are edited to what the models wanted ie: lighten the skin tones etc etc

Well done first of all for trying somthing new and not sitting around complaining about the state of the ecommony.

Like any trade you need to start somewhere, and that is indeed right at the bottom, so its not surprising that your photo's are not on par with a seasoned pro. However, if you intend to charge a fee for your services, then the client will expect a certain standard.

I would suggest offering your service for free for a few weddings to gain more experience, and get out during the day and take photos - lots of them of buildings and people and try various settings. Learn photo shop if you have a PC or appature if you have a mac.

See if there are any courses available near you, college courses are cheap enough.

Nowhere near what is needed to charge somebody for a professional contract.

Sorry can i just make it clear im not chargeing for my photography and everyone i work for (models and different photograpers) have all appriciated the hard workand and to be honest ive not yet had one bad word about any pics of mine, the wedding one was for a couple i know very well who are also photographers and they appraoched me and asked me after they had seen my portfolio and there statement was "We dont want the normal wedding pictures we'd just like a fun day and some images to remember it" i did actually say no to them 3 times but they were very determined that i did the pictures for them.

Also as mentioned some of them are edited in photoshop to how the model wants it to look.

Can you honestly imagine somebody saying "I appreciate you have done this for nothing but the photos are really not very good!"

The photo of the bride and groom signing the register is, quite simply out of focus. Had you focused on the rose and the rest had been out of focus, then great, emphasis on the flower and it becomes artistic but as it is, it's just a blur. Needs some sharpening in photoshop.

Not here to to stress, just help. :)

As for i wont hear people say a bad comment for anything free, ive actually heard ALOT of people and been there at one perticular moment when a photographer took some images and then at the end of the shoot he showed the model and she turned round and actually said there absolute :Censored:

I will be attending college in september to learn more about lighting, shadows, positions etc

As with anything, practice makes perfect. I agree with the comments about getting the bum pictures of a professional page, maybe tidy it up a bit and keep only your best photos on there. Dont have unedited and edited versions etc (with the exception of the touching up one.)

The watermark at the top left to some of the photos is a bit pointless IMO

I agree i have literally never done any studies or anything but always wanted to do it for years and years so decided to take it up and tbh the feedback ive got on my shots are very good YES there is a few pointers ive been told by a very good friend of mine who is a VERY VERY good photographer

ATM ive got the Canon 400d but will be upgradeing very soon and also be getting quite a few more lens

Yeah the watermark on some is pointless i agree but ahh well lol

I take all criticism with a pinch of salt lol

As for edited and unedited photos ? all the pics that are up on my page are edited and are in my portfolio which a few companys have seen including a Fashion show that is being held in quite a few various locations including japan and they have asked me if i would like to be one of the togs there but as im new i have declined and have said i dont mind doing like local events but i dont feel like doing it as i would hate to mess it up and it be a waste of time....

Have you tried photography forums? I've found them a fantastic help. Similar format to this, this is great for dj's, they are great for photographers. I use these two, the first is predominately UK based, the second American but some of the images on both are stunning.

people will spend good for alternative/rock sort of weddings with but cracks out and all?

Specialism after the layer cake is always key - Especially is a super saturated trade.

Ahhh yeah sorry my mistake but as for the feedback etc i do appriciate honesty and that is wat i have been given, i shall look at the areas mentioned and try to rectify that im glad that people havent gone "Oh there not bad" then turned round and gone "What the bloody hell" lol

Im sure most of you have seen the pics so i wont want to bore you with uploading them lol
