Phone calls

Have so far this week had at least a dozen calls from wedding magazines, wedding shows, nursery magazines, local this, local that... asking if I want to take a advert in such and such magazine, website, leaflet.

I've not had Nuisance calls as such for a long time now, yet this week -Bang-

Have asked where they got my details from and its "we searched on google for mobile discos in your area and got your details from there".

I've advised i'm not interested and to not contact me again but was wondering if there is anyway of stopping it or wether their are rules against this sort of "cold calling". I can't see how to stop it if they just dragging my details of my website/google. I'm tempted to remove my telephone number from my website but don't want to put off potential clients.

Anyone else noticed a increase in such calls lately as well, Especially with Christmas round the corner?

Take it with a pinch of salt fella. Leave the phone number up there least its showing people can find your site pretty easily.

Yes I agree but I've just had the 4th today and frankly its beginning to annoy me :)

Register with TPS then if the calls continue you can report them.

Won't stop 'em completely but it'll make you feel better :)

That or splash £30 on a Truecall box but then you run the risk of aggravating customers. And it won't work with a mobile.

It takes a week or three to get through and start having an effect. However, when you answer the phone you can say that the caller shouldn't be contacting you as you are registered with the TPS. The caller usually apologises and hangs up pretty sharply as they know they shouldn't really be contacting you. As has already been mentioned, if you keep getting persistent callers from a particular number you can then report them to the TPS.

Been registered with them for quite a while and you do still get occasional chancers, but the mention of being registered usually sends them scurrying for cover!

I dont advertise my number at all for use which does the trick :D
Just email or face to face meetings.

I got fed up with people trying to ell me stuff.
Its very annoying when someone tells you they can get you to the first page of google when you already are and have spent nothing other than the hosting fee :lol:

Fair enough they have a job to do but they can go any bother someone
else and if I want advertising I will use google to assess what would be good.

Take Martins site for example - its the only site I pay to advertise with as its good on
google and location specific with some decent information and feedback system.

I answer the phone politely and confirm that they are speaking to the correct person. If it is not someone I know or a potential customer I hang up immediately. I never say "no thank you" " I am not interested" etc. I just hang up whilst they are still talking. I don't consider this to be rude. After several calls over a period of generally a week or less I never here from them again. Job done!
