Phew! I nearly went cold turkey without my fix! I see we've got new surroundings, I'm not too impressed by the decor. I'll go for a wander round and see if I can find anything I recognise.

feels rather naked like where is the vast database of useful and informative threads gone ? :confused:

Oi! Somebody put the games (Arcade) back! Or I might have to dust off the old XBox!

Seriously, first impressions are not great. Now I don't mind embracing change but this feels like McDonalds changing the entire recipe of the Big Mac!

It seems we have finally updated the forum software! Downside is someone will need to re incorporate it into the full MDD site and get the old back up again. Stand by. Don't panic won't really look like this but something like it.

If you scroll up and look at the top of the forum, it appears that we are being directed to the "what's new" page by default. Scroll up and click on "forum", and the whole forum will become available to you.

Its the same in all the browsers. (FF, IE, Opera, Chrome, Safari(Win)) It looks as if the layout is being positioned absolutely and if someones avitar is larger than the defined size it is overflowing onto the text.

Speaking of which, we now appear to have an embarrassment of riches! After my involuntary "upgrade" to IE9, I got used to the What's New feature not working. Now it's on steroids. As well as getting notification of the titles of new posts, I get the whole shebang!.

PS. Anyone had a look at the new smilie list? It may take some getting used to.

Good God! What a bunch of whingers!!!!

For God knows how long, we get moaned at for not upgrading, and as soon as we do, everyone complains that they don't like it!

:lol:

Give it a chance, it's actually not that different once you scratch the surface.

The default text looks somewhat small(er), but give it a little while, no doubt there'll need to be a few tweaks, plus we'll all need to get used to it, but I don't think it's THAT different!

I'll be lucky if I can scratch ANYTHING with the RSI I'm developing from the constant scrolling! Better put in a job lot order for new batteries for my magic trackpad!

Went out for a few drinks last night for my nephew's 18th birthday and came back and took a look on the forum and thought I had gone mad or had mucked up something.
When I click on the MDD from my favourites list / bookmarks, it takes me to the page that has been posted as a screen grab. Other than that, I think it's a nice, refreshing change.
Nice one!

I've just had a look on my computer using Chrome - seeing as Charlie's mentioned it and I know Darren uses it, but it's fine here on Chrome. Therefore, I'm guessing it's something to do with it getting a bit confused with current / cache on your computers????

Actually love the new forum. Bit white, but I can live with that.

Just for the admins as a headsup on problems to get fixed, the banner ad's are not visible anymore. I'm not fussed about having them, but the people who have paid for them to be there might be! :run:

The only thing I don't like is that by default it takes me straight to the what's new page when I login. And the formatting of the "what's new" page is all over the place. Apart from that I really like it.

...and the formatting on that page appears only to be skewed because we allowed the larger avatars for supporters.

No doubt we will need to make a few 'tweaks' in the coming days and weeks to make it 'home' (like adding the banners back in), but I think we're off to a pretty good start!

Change the CSS, this bit: -

li.activitybit .avatar {
float: left;
padding-right: 10px;
width: 75px;
}

change width to auto, or something like 175px :)

First up, many thanks and congratulations to Richie and his team, well done lads.

It's all very confusing for an old bloke like me. I appear to be having a conversation with a young savant on here via this "visitor message" system. Where this conversation is to be found, I have no idea. Is it public? If so, I'd better mind my keyboard. I've also accepted a "friend request". Also baffling. Am I only allowed to have friends if they've been vetted first? That's a bit of a facer for an amicable soul like me.

And as for losing my arcade crown, well I'm gutted. :banghead:( couldn't find the crying smiley, so had to substitute this one. )

If that's the case why don't we just disable the "what's new" link altogether. It's horrid. :S

Using Firefox and all seems fine.

Is there any notification of new PMs by way of a flashing mesage or highlighting as previously---or do we go into the appropriate section each time on logging in?

Just being lazy !!!!!!!!!!!!

Just noticed after posting the result is displayed very quickly:beer1:

I'm getting the notifications as before. Since I have a pop-up blocker running, I get a little box, and I have to go to the messages section, rather than letting it appear where I am.
