Well someone else usually starts a thread when Apple bring out their latest and greatest, so I thought I'd get in there first :)
Nowt to say, really, just wanted to start a thread that may over the coming days be quite popular :daft:

Awaiting the details with alot of anticipation, although I do feel that from some of the rumours I've heard and seen, gone are the days of Apple being an innovating business. Samsung and the Nokia/Microsoft collaborations are sure to be tough to beat.
I just feel that Apple have become more money grabbing business men then the innovative pioneers we so love and have seen.
All I'll say is.... R.I.P Steve Jobs - he is probably turning in his grave.

Why would anyone want what is essentially old tech....dual core for example.....so 2 years ago.:zip:
Theres a reason Apple are all over sa.sung...because their product is essentially better.
Check out the comparison table....

Dual core? Pah! Wouldn't waste my time or money on something so primative!! :zip:
Three weeks in and I'm still amazed by my new quad core HTC One X. I've also trialled it in my disco setup now as it came in very handy when my DJ2Go somehow crashed and took out VDJ with it on Sunday afternoon. VDJ was still playing to the end of the track so I just cued up a track on the phone and plugged the spare lead with the ground loop isolator on it in to the phone and then in to a spare channel on my mixer (it's a 12 channel powered mixer so always a spare channel or three!!). And it worked perfectly.
I also used the phone on Saturday night to download a request from 7Digital that I didn't have (a track called Black Is The Colour - the Dubliners) and played it straight from the phone. With the Beats Audio onboard it sounded really good. My HTC One X came with 7Digital app pre-installed and I can see this being a vital combination for me at future gigs. The download speed over 3G was also really fast compared to other phones I've used in the past.
My point it that the iPhone is not the be-all and end-all in the mobile phone market. There are (often cheaper) alternatives out there that often get overlooked.

Some of you might be surprised to learn that I am NOT getting the 5.
My contract was up for renewal in July so I held out until the 12th...and wasn't particularly amazed by what I saw.
So, the very next day I went out and upgraded to the Samsung Galaxy S3 and I love it to bits. All the apps I mainly use are now on Android anyway and it's fairly easy to sync apple calendars/contacts, etc. to Android too.
A big plus is that on iPhone, only Vodafone 3G is available to me but on the Galaxy S3 I can get HSDPA+ which i'm fairly pleased with.

I havent pre-ordered mine yet. But im hoping to tommorow. Im looking at changing network from 02. I would have stayed with them but i fancy 4G internet. At the moment there is no sign of 02 offering it. I spoke to 02 earlier today and they have said they are bringing 4G to their network but not for well over a year at this moment in time.
So its out of T-Mobile and Orange ill go into contract on tommorow. With the possibility to switch over to the EE network. Its worthwhile for me because 4G will be available in Hull soon through EE.
These are the first cities to get it through EE.

I have to say that I am sorely disappointed. Having had the Iphone 3GS and now 4, 2 Macbooks, E-mac and soon new iPad, it would be fair to say that I am a bit of an Apple Geek. What started out as a truly ground breaking and amazing product that really broke down barriers and shook the mobile phone world to bits, now seems somewhat of a distant past.
A thinner phone?
A larger screen?
A faster processor?
blah blah blah. Well excuse me if I am not wetting myself in excitement. But these are poor upgrades IMHO, and really nothing very special - almost as if they released an upgrade for the sake of it!. Nothing like the apple of yesteryear. Cut the crap guys - and create another revolutionary product... or has Apple had its day?
If that is the case then it will be very sad :(
PS The wife has an S3 and its fantastic!

I agree with you here, It would seem Apple has just ran out of ideas, which lets admit, would happen one day :) I'm still using a 3GS and to be honest, the new Iphone 5 does not have much in the way to entise me to upgrade, My 3GS does just about the same things.
I probably won't bother upgrading in November when my contract ends, just haggle O2 for a sharp decrease in my contract price since i'm keeping my old phone :p

I'm quite happy with my Samsung Galaxy S2, would have liked the S3 but it wasn't available when I upgraded.
I can't see why you've gone and got a new contract though John, could you not just have waited until the new year when your old one runs out. You now have 2 contracts to pay - makes no sense to me but I understand people that HAVE to have the latest toy! Each to their own I guess :)

I decided to keep it running and let my mother use it for the final 4 months then after that she can have the Iphone 4 and go on sim only or something like that. So ive put the money aside to cover that contract in full i said ill pay it for her till the end.
Ive had a good month of discos so far. So i spent half of my earnings on my folks. New Iphone and of course another laptop. Probably another powerful Sony Vaio soon. I like my Sony Machines.

I agree it isnt exactly what we were hoping for. Did anyone see the curved concept art work that looked like a mac mouse. Now that looked good. But a plain oblong chocolate bar shape that has been around for years nope not catching my eye. staying with my galaxys s3. Contracts up in 4 months so may rethink then but by that point s4 may be on release so not holdign my breath. New ipod touch looks good though.

The thing is Justin. I prefer the Iphone to anything else out there so im getting that. The brand has no bearing on it. I like the way the Iphone works and didnt like the others as much.

I see it that we have came to the point with phones where you can only make a screen bigger or a faster processor. Nothing new or brilliant! iPhone 5 or the S3 there is nothing wow on them. There is nothing else that that can add the the phones to make them a huge hit. Its the OS that can change things and the iOS is a far superior system than the clunky Android! I am sitting with an Android phone here just now and the OS is just bad.

I just spent £600 on the new iPhone. Up until a few days ago I was still using the iphone 3g. To be honest there's really not that much different on the grand scheme of things. Bigger screen than whjat I was using, a little bit faster, but I still prefer design of the 3g over the iphone 5.
I could have got an android, but I didn't like any of the ones I had a play around with. I just prefer the look and feel of the iOS over android. Is the phone worth such a hefty price tag......not a chance.

Completely agree. I love APPLE. But it's not worth the £££. The best thing about iOS 6 is the iCloud integration..
I did get a little excited about the possibilities of using the phone with the new range of Pioneer CDJs/Controllers. But the enthusiasm didn't last long.
Literally be turning up to a club gig soon with your iPhone and a pair of headphones.

I saw the new iPhone 5 first hand today as a colleague at work has just gotten hers. I've got to say, though, that she seemed very subdued about the whole thing. There was no raving about it and she didn't seem all that enthusiastic about it at all. It made me wonder why she even bothered getting it in the first place!!
As for my HTC One X, I've just been informed that it is to be given a new OS upgrade as HTC are rolling out an upgrade to Android Jelly Bean next month for One X owners with upgrades for other phones coming later in the year. And I still keep finding new things that it can do every day. It's more powerful than my gigging laptops and can do the job of several of my other gadgets - and, in some cases, do it better!! Now if only Sky can realise what a great phone it is and give us Sky Go, instead of just concentrating on the SIII, then I'd really be in smartphone heaven!!

I've had mine just over a week now. So far im not impressed. My internet speed has been diabolical on 3G on Orange. The problem has not been down to Orange as i discovered.
I was instructed by Orange tech support to take my phone to my local store. So i took it into the Hull EE store and one of the staff took my Nano Sim out of the phone and put it into another handset. The overall speed was very good. Put it back in my Iphone5 and the internet speed is terrible.
So the problem is definetely down to the Iphone itself which Orange have identified and i have a replacement coming out tommorow. I run a five speed tests at different times so Orange tech support could see and i thought id show you.

Hopefully when my new phone arrives tommorow it should be a lot better. Has anyone else had any problems with the new Iphone?

I laugh at the people who get a 4G contract! What a con! Just wait for the other operators especially 3... With the all you can eat. EE know people are stupid enough to cough up just to show off.

My connection hasn't improved at all even with a replacement phone. At the moment i havent even got 4G internet. Its not available in my hometown Hull while December. But at the moment. I dont have any intention of going on 4G because my 3G is that bad. Orange are trying everything in the book to try and fob me off.
Im currently on the line with Orange. Looking to cancel my contract completely and send the Iphone back. Ill probably buy myself a 4S instead and go back on 02 sim only the network who i was on before.
