Before I start to programme in some new slightly more involved scenes I'd like to ask do people make slight adjustments when they arrive at each venue? Obviously the dance floor won't be in exactly the same position, different shaped rooms, high ceilings, low ceilings etc.
Is there a quick bit of pre-programming or does one show tend to fit all and just change the physical position of the lights to suit. My moving heads have an 'off-set' menu - is this the thing to use?

When touring to different venues the show always needs tweaking. In the pro touring world our desks are admittedly a little different but the principle is the same.
Programme key positions to pallets (the may be called presets etc...) this is basically a palette of information your controller basis things n so for example you have a pallet saved for all the movers to direct to the centre of the dance floor - this location info is your pallet.
then any chases or looks that need this information can then refer to it across the board.
so when you arrive at the next venue and everything is different you just update the pallet and all chases etc will be ok.
i hope that makes sense?
as i say weather this is possible on you controller i dont know as some cheap dmx desks store this information in the chase so you need to re programme the chase every time.
hope this helps?

We often find ourselves 'tweaking'. However, depending on the set up time / accessibility we may find not enough time to tweak, so then it is a job of trying to re-position the lights as best possible. We do prefer tweaking the Programmes compared to moving the lights.

Nearly always tweak the lights to fit the venue as i use a computer to run all our lighting takes about a minute, just bring up the grid and put the points in were you want the lights to go.
