Note that it says unamplified music, so that doesn't allow for much aside from brass bands, as vocals are nearly always amplified even for tiny venues. Mind you, that doesn't seem to have stopped the noise police from complaining!

Hilarious how the BBC ran this story on the morning news yesterday with shots of an "up and coming band" performing live in a pub to advertise the launch of their new single with HEAVILY amplified music (to the point that it was over-whelming the recording mic's and distorted). They didn't mention the "unamplified" bit.

The other thing which made me laugh was that at the end of the news clip they cut to a shot of the bands "adoring fans" who were all stood at the back with pints in hand and faces like thunder.

I think you're reading it wrong - I understand it to be no music licence for live bands (amplified or not) in venues under 200 capacity and no licence for non-amplified music in any size venue.
