ADJ, Ryger, etc, etc

Anything considered, including the high end boxes that can be programmed and run stand away from a PC.

PM me with details & prices.

Has anyone had any experience with Thomann's DMX joker series of products? Specifically http://www.thomann.de/gb/stairville_dmx_joker_512stand_alone.htm - stand alone joker 512? or their joker 1024?

I have a thread somewhere on here with a link to download the software. :) You can have a play with it and see.

An excellent DMX/USB 'dongle' is the EntTec USB pro...

They are incredibly stable.

Not to mention being one of the cheaper ones out there.... :D I'm giving it due consideration, but the dual universe facility on the Stairville one (or stand alone ability) is appealing

Hmmmm....

I've had a play with the Stairville DMX Joker software and it's missing one key feature - sound to light! Apparently the Stairville branded stuff is actually Chromateq and it's also available branded as Kam with their own bundled software, but it's not widely supported by Freestyler and the other common packages.

In the end I decided to buy the Enttec Pro dongle, but their website is missing the "Order" button (and all the countries from the drop down list for delivery!!)

So then I thought I'd look at the DMXKing product, but it's got to come by Airmail from New Zealand which adds a fair few quid to the price tag and means it definitely won't be here by the weekend...

I've also looked hard at the GWDMX interface and I love the stand alone feature, but the software is very basic and I believe it's missing the ability to "fade" and won't work as just a USB->DMX interface with freestyler (or anything other than their own software).

Does anyone know of any good UK retailers who might have stock of a good USB->DMX interface?

Very fed up with this now, it's all got way too complicated.

I tried a few but just couldnt get them to work, so in teh end went with this one

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/512-Channel-USB-DMX-Controller-MAC-OSx-PC-Laptop-/160886970545?pt=UK_Sound_Vision_Lighting_Controlle rs_Dimmers&hash=item25759c58b1

worked with freestyler straight out of teh box - dead simple - install software - plug in and connect up :) used if tof first time in early Sept at enstone airfield near Oxford - worked a treat

That's pretty much what I've got at the moment. The problem I have is that the clock on it isn't 100% accurate (it relies on the PC sending the data at the right speed as there's no buffer in the device itself) so some of my older/cheaper fixtures (GVG scanners and Acme Puma's) won't play nicely with it (and there's notable lag between command and execution now and then on other fixtures). Which is why I'm looking for something better now which generates it's own clock.

I've just ordered the DMXKing Pro and paid the premium for express shipping from NZ. I've had enough of deliberation!

I use the same and have had mine over a year now, I don't have any issues with lagging and everything I do on freestyler gets sent to the lights with no issues. I think it was well worth the money IMO.

Not noticed an issue with mine was running 34 lights witha cable frun of 58 feet and all seemed to work as they should, but having said that most of my lights are less than 2 years old

I know you're looking for a DMX software solution. However, if you we're to reconsider and go the hardware route may I recommend the Trancension 384?

This unit will give you sound to light and nice fades. It's easy to program and use. One thing that it does do, that many others don't, is that you get nice fades even when it's working with sound mode.

I've tried quite a few DMX controllers and found this one is basically the only one that ticks all the boxes. Retail price is around £120.

Just a thought...

Doh!

Bit slow - but we do DMX dongles - well the ones that are compatible with www.venuemagic.co.uk anyway! We usually hold stock of a couple of the entec ones (although out of the pro at the moment too!) as well as the Venue Magic Branded ones.

If you'd reminded me quicker I would probably have gone for VenueMagic. I completely forgot about it :(
