It is a tricky one indeed! I would have to say it is difficult to choose, my top five are

Justice vs Simian – We Are Your Friends (though this is at least 3 years old)
Fedde Le Grande – Put Your Hands Up For Detroit
Ame – Rej (Pastaboys remix)
Mason – Exceeder
Bodyrox – Yeah Yeah (D.Ramirez remix)

Technically the last 2 haven’t had a U.K. full release yet though. Even Fedde is coming out next Mon I think (Maybe last mon?) Though I have had it for over 6 months!

David Guetta - Don't Let Me Go

Ok.. pedant hat on..

The original David Guetta - Love don't let me go was released back in 2002 or 2003.

The one released this year is David Guetta Vs The Egg - Walking Away (Love don't let me go)

Oh, and The Egg - Walking away was 2005.

No contest, as an old 70's disco dude it has to be Scissor Sisters - I don't feel like dancin'

Beat me too it - has to be the old Scissor's - bloody ace tune and a huge floor filler for me so far - just downloaded the album and am not completely sure about it yet.

There were some comments about a poor year for music. I've been thinking lately how good the 2000's were turning out to be - lots of "propper" bands coming about - Kooks, Fratellis, Snow Patrol etc...

Just wondering what happened to the 90's - have a lot of great tunes from the 60's, 70's and 80's but struggle big time to find anything much from the 90's - or is that because it's not 2010's yet. I seem to remember that the 80's took a while to become good again.

Why? You know how diverse my music tastes are.

This could be an interesting diversion for those that know (or think they know each other) but what would you have thought my favourite track of all time/track of the year would be, Darren?

I'm surprised at that! :omg:

You think bands such as Kooks, Fratellis, Snow Patrol etc are better than 90s bands like Oasis, Blur, REM (I think they peaked in the 90s before anyone says anything), Radiohead, later U2, Prodigy etc etc?

To me, the quality of music peaked in the 70s and 80s, with the 90s not far off the mark. Now I think everyone has ran out of ideas, although that's not to say there couldn't be a lot more to come.

I would say the last original band really worthy of praise was Coldplay, although they have now burned out into mediocrity aswell.

Stone Roses (80/90s cusp), Nirvana, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Madonna, Lenny Kravitz, Bryan Adams and I'm not likely to forget - Eminem.

Oh, and the Spice Girls!

You'll have to wait and see Beerfunk.

Most music is never that obvious and takes a while for people to make statements like yours.

Wait a while and see.

In 10 years time you may well be saying the same things about the Kooks, Fratellis etc etc

I'm sure you get the drift and if you don't, you will in another 10 years.

Patronising? Oh yes! Been there, thought the same thing and said it/done it.

I'd say they've raised themselves to mediocrity, send me to seep they do
