I missed it last year. I'll be there as long as no gig comes in for the Saturday. Whist I've loved my trips down in the past, each time has been exhausting with little or no sleep the night before flying down due to getting in at silly o clock.

New dates are going to affect numbers no doubt, chances of me getting a September Sunday wedding is far higher than October.

September? Whoopee, that should be right at the start of potato harvest, so should be possible to get time off. Brilliant.

I think that's the St Leger Race weekend here in Doncaster so Saturday and Sunday will be right out. A day off on Monday again I think looks likely.

I had planned on going but I've got tickets for The Wall at Wembley that weekend so unless I decide to head to Brum early on the Sunday (and I'll be brutally honest, I plan on enjoying a few sherrys at the gig) I'll have to give it a miss.

To be fair, old Rog put on an quite an amazing show too at the MEN, I can't wait to see what it's like scaled up for Wembley. :)

I was definitely up for attending if the dates suited but I'm a teacher and would need to be in work on the Monday so Sunday night wouldn't be on the cards anyway.

Was planning on coming along to this to meet some old faces, but it does seem rather quiet compared to last years thread.

Is anybody planning on going to this? Wouldn't mine coming along to say hi and party afterwards :)

Oi!! I spy more Americanisms creeping in. ( Or a simple typo, perchance? ) Centre if you don't mind. :Naughty:

The proximity of last year's hotel to the NEC, and the magnificent low cost breakfast on Monday makes it an easy choice for me.

If push came to shove though, I'd prefer somewhere quieter* than Reflex for the evening out.

Ok guys I am looking at booking my flights and hotel this weekend. Which hotel are we most likely to be staying at on the Sunday night?

Will it be the Travelodge at Sheldon again.it was ok plus it had the toby carvery for food

Or do you fancy a change? If so any suggestions

Will it be the Travelodge at Sheldon again.it was ok plus it had the toby carvery for food

Or do you fancy a change?

Speaking for myself, no. Sheldon's close to the NEC, and Monday's breakfast seals the deal for me. I may sample the Carvery on-site this year, I'm reliably informed that it was very good. Only downside is the lack of a communal area in which to hold the wind down session, after the party after the show. Thus, I and my trusty sidekick JB will be staying in the Sheldon once again.

Rhetorical. Somewhere before sarcasm. You see, me, I thought that answering a rhetorical question with another rhetorical question using almost exactly the same phrasing, might be regarded as witty wordplay. Evidently, I was wrong.

Bearing that in mind, I will shortly amend my reply to something more succinct and straightforward. ;)

MY Prices are fine thanx
It's £10 to park + 300 miles worth of fuel + wear and tear on my vehicle + 5 hours of travelling.
IF I thought I would gain anything from it I would be there, But this year my business is running fine, My equipment is all fairly new and looking on the net there is nothing on the market that is making want it. If that changes next year then I will go.
I don't know everything but If you need to go to Birmingham to learn how to be a DJ then that's your issue not mine.

Dear oh dear.

Such a shame there are people that are so closed minded.

I have learnt a lot by talking to and meeting other liked minded people and it has helped me improve my business no end.

And no, I don't need to go to Birmingham to learn how to be a DJ.

One last thing, the word is 'thanks' not 'thanx' :)

I am far from closed minded, I am a member of the NADJ and attand most of the Yorkshire meetings.
I am open to new ideas and have also picked up ideas from others along the way.
I do not need or want to go to Birmingham this year and so I will not be there.

I hope those who go enjoy it! :)

I went to BPM by train. Cost me something like £140-£170 (can't remember exactly but sure it's around this mark somewhere). Changed trains at New Street Station and we were at the NEC within ten mins of of getting off our first train. Long walk to the hall, though! I went down with a mate and we started with cans of Caffrey's on the train (which may be the reason for the my mishap/lack of judgement/unfortunate chain of events later on in the evening!). It was a good day out (but, I confess, it should have been a lot better!). I was planning on going this year until I realised it was brought forward and became the week before our family holiday. Maybe next year.

I can read perfectly well.

If you want to be insulting, then I suggest you go elsewhere and do it.

See you all tomorrow at BPM!

If you see me walking around with another bloke, it'll probably be Lee from Leap Creative / 48 Press, so you may get chance to talk to him face-to-face. He hasn't confirmed 100% that he's coming yet though.

Well after attending all the BPM's I am taking a year off as I am pretty busy. If it was the normal date then i would have come.
If i did not have an event on Monday then I would attend, but its a long journey for one day IMO.

I also do not really have any gear to go and see as it seems an off year for innovation.
I have also attended ever seminar possible so I doubt that there will be anything mind blowingly new there too.

Hats off to everyone who attends as its an excellent event and I respect Mark and Eddie for pulling off!!
Well worth a visit for any DJ at any level, no doubt!!

Looking forward to the Promobile conference as that was really great this year!

Good man. You know it makes sense. As Gary said, come and say hello in the bar, we're not usually hard to find. :D

Ah well Toby, maybe next year.

The lure of meeting some of the Glitterati has proved irresistible to some who had insisted that they couldn't afford the loss of sleep entailed. The lure of fame, eh?

To everyone who attends, come and say hello to Reprobates 'R Us in the bar area. We're (fairly ) harmless ( usually)

Was my first year attending. I went up on the sunday with Wife and son. Impressed with the EV subs, very good. Not so keen on the tops mind you. Saw some great lasers (more for nightclub use) have to say though, nothing really caught me eye. Everything I was expecting to be honest, still enjoyed it though. Saw lots of old faces and friends so it was good to catch up.

Sorry not to have met you to say hello. Ah well, maybe next year. I feel that there is a growing feeling that the show has lost its way more than a little, and is now in effect "Plasa North". Your comments tie in with that view.

As you say next year we must say hi. I would go again. Maybe they could have mobile dj stuff on one side, club stuff on the other? Lots of gadgets and performances aimed at club dj's and nightclubs. Next year they could have performances by mobile dj's instead of scratch dj's??

I never got the chance to meet you. Did you come into the bar area at any time?

Glad to hear you enjoyed the bpm experience though

I would just like to say thanks to the members of this forum who made the effort to attend bpm this year.Im not sure if I met the newcomers but I certainly met the regulars, and enjoyed a few drinks with them.

It was great meeting you guys again.

It certainly did not go down well at all.the dj changed it after about 1 minute,to be fair I think he played it by mistake, maybe it was tagged wrong.

The Rev truelove has been the dj in reflex for the last few years that we've been there, yes the same guy.

I did have a quick scan for the bar but I ended up getting a coffee near the main entrance. The only bar I saw was the press bar I think.

It was quite well hidden this year. Tucked away in a corner between the restaurant & the PA comparison area.
