Running down non-MDD-members rigs is not something that we really like very much on here (to put it mildly).

It's very easy to poke fun at someone who hasn't got any right of reply. There are obviously plenty of sub-standard rigs out there... it's hardly news to anyone.

Much more constructive for each of us to work on improving our own business than making derogatory remarks about others.

Oh, and that FB page is US based so I very much doubt that anyone on here would be on there in any event (regardless of standards).

Why do you suppose you can judge what to expect from a DJ on price alone? I know a pair of young DJs who go out for under £150, their kit isn't 'top end' but it's decent and well presented, the time I was at one of their gigs, the floor was ram packed. Another DJ I know well, goes out with a LWB Merc van full of kit, including what is essentially a full Function One PA system and usually for under £200, unsuprisingly he's always busy. Paying top money for a DJ doesn't automatically get you a good performer, I've talked to many people over the years who have told me horror stories of their experiences with inept DJs. Price alone is rarely an indication of quality, reputation is far more important, spend your time building yours, not talking down that of others, negativity doesn't sell IMO, it puts people off.

I have no intention of showing it to my clients. just thought some djs with a sense of humour

Paying top money for a DJ doesn't automatically get you a good performer, I've talked to many people over the years who have told me horror stories of their experiences with inept DJs. Price alone is rarely an indication of quality, reputation is far more important, spend your time building yours, not talking down that of others, negativity doesn't sell IMO, it puts people off.

Amen Brother, say it loud and say it proud. Deriding other providers isn't the way forward. And always bear in mind that while the kit may be well below par, the man driving it may have an almost psychic ability to play exactly the music that's wanted at the time, connect with his audience, and generally wow them.

Got to agree with Steve on this one. As someone who's done stand up before, and is a keen follower of the current UK stand up comedy circuit (I'm seeing Charlie Chuck, Sara Pascoe and Patrick Monahan a week tomorrow! Woo hoo!!) I like to think that my sense of humour is up there! But laughing at other DJs who are merely trying to earn a buck by giving enjoyment to others is not something that tickles me pink I'm afraid.

As for the cheap DJ comments, I have a service that goes out at £99 a time. And, funnily enough, it's been my biggest selling service for past couple of years and has helped things tick over when the wedding discos weren't coming in thick and fast. And it doesn't interfere with the bigger money shows that we do. So does that make me a rubbish DJ?

Sir, I feel you have badly misjudged the mood, ethos and members of this forum. We do not like threads denigrating others, as they may not have the courtesy of a right of reply ( if they're not members here ) or even worse, may be wrongly identified, as has happened more than once, indeed I've just read an old thread where someone was fingered as providing an awful service for an extortionate price, and it turns out he was working fifty miles away at the time.

Threads such as the one you have started do little to increase the sum of human knowledge. That's one reason why they're greeted with less than universal approbation.

Correct! 2 hours of music, games and utter madness! I should have been a RedCoat or Funstar! And one booking always seems to bloom in to several more.Not big money but they're not prime time booking slots either so I can also do the bigger shows! Oo Oo! Suits me, sir!
