Christmas that is.

Does anyone have any Christmas tacks / albums that are useable & not the usuall "Now that's what I call Christmas" fodder?

2 I used last year to varying sucsess were

Brian Setzer Orchestra - Boogie Woogie Christmas (Big band swing versions of Cristmas songs)
Reverend Horton Heat - We Three Kings (Rock 'n' Roll / Rockabilly /Surf instrumentals)

9 times out of 10 I got "Whats this, it's good, better than the usual rubbish", so maybe it pays to be different?

Any further suggestions?

(yes I know there's also this one)

I dunno, there's a select few that never seem to lose their appeal, namely :

Elton John - Step Into Christmas
Wham! - Last Christmas
Mariah Carey - All I Want For...

I will see if I can get a listen to that Brian Setzer one though, sounds interesting :)

Hi Steve.

I have a number of Christmas tracks that are definitely not "NTWICC" Fodder, but not sure what you mean by useable.

They don't necessarily have to be "danceable" as the bulk of Christmas songs tend to get played as background during meals, just as an alternative to the usual junk

Steve's a bit busy at the mo, so I had a quick check. Yep: they are on CD101, Play.com, and Amazon (didn't bother checking anywhere else) .... so they do seem to be pretty readily available :teeth:

Paul, you have put links to your online radio station several times in posts. Can you assure us that you have all the necessary licences etc for it, and can produce the paperwork if necessary?

I don't want to come across heavy-handed on this, but we do have an obligation to adhere to the law of the land! :)

SonRise Radio is fuly licensed and complies with all relevant Copyright Law. Statistics are provided Monthly for the purpose of royalty payments. All the relevant paperwork can be made available should it be required.

For those songs that have been offered as downloads, I have the artist's/publishers consent for free distribution. Those in the last post I am not permitted to distribute freely, therefore only a link that enabled listening was given, however should a listener wish to purchase, links are available on the request pages to authorised sources.

I do not consider your concerns heavy handed. The one thing that Separates us from many of our internet peers is the fact that we are licensed and do pay royalties. It is a great shame that others flout the laws and deprive the very people they claim to support from the income they deserve.

I apologise if I have caused any concerns, my intention was only to offer a possible answer to the question with some alternatives that others may not be aware of.

For the really brave, look up (or download) 'Bob Rivers Twisted Christmas' (http://www.amazon.com/Twisted-Christmas-Rivers-Comedy-Corp/dp/B000002JLV)

Anyone who feels overworked this Xmas can just pop on 'Rudolph The Deep Throat Reindeer' or 'Frosty The Pervert' and Santa's magic security guards will be on hand to escort you from the building... :D

Some superb Xmas versions also abound by this guy - well worth a download are:

'Be Claus I Got High' (Afroman)

'I Am Santa Claus' (Black Sabbath - Iron Man)

'Smells Like The Night Before Xmas' - (This is the lyrics of 'Twas The Night Before Xmas' to Nirvana's Teen Spirit...)

You're welcome Sam, I started using them when I got fed up with all the ones you hear on the radio year in year out.
