What Apps?

Just got a Window 8 ultrabook. Never used Apps before.
What App can you not be without? Or are there any Apps you can recommend.

I still have XP on all my laptops and netbooks... and don't plan to change them anytime soon.

This windows 8 is (as they admit) trying to be Everything to Everyone.... or something like that.

In my view it is a JOKE. It is just an unnecessary interface that is hiding the "desktop". Hence the reason why I am keen to find out what Apps people use. I have DELETED all the ones that came with the machine. They were dire and such a distraction.

I went a stage further than you and deleted Windows 8 after 9 hours !!!!

I have a therory that Microsoft alternately release good and bad operating systems. I shall wait for Windows 9 before moving on from 7.

My older machines are running XP Pro.

Personally I just dont understand the facsination with apps. I am perfectly capable of selecting which music or movie I watch to watch from a list of filenames. I dont need to flick through pictures of album or DVD covers to decide.
