Like that's worth worrying about?
He has moved over from Greece and looks to be concentrating on club work. If he's good then a club will more than likely add him to their list of 'maybe's' or take him on because he's cheap. If he wants to do an 8 hour set for £100.00 and it increases his earnings then I don't have a problem with that at all to be honest. He's not going to bother me.
Sorry if that sounds blunt but I don't see it as a problem at all. Maybe I am missing something but I don't see him advertising as a mobile DJ and also it doesn't look like he has a website anyway just tunes on Soundcloud. He's probably thought he'd have a go at using some free advertising.

I don't know how you can compete with that....

Company: Megamix Events
Location: LONDON HAMMERSMITH W6
Date Posted:Aug 29, 2012
We are currently looking to recruit a DJ that loves to make any party a memorable one. This means you could be playing the latest R n B to House Tunes and Pop to Cheese. You will not only DJ but help lift carry and set up equipment at various location's across London, Surrey, Essex or Kent. Ideally you will start from Hammersmith and will be driven to the party, which tends to mean our busiest nights are Friday and Saturday Nights. We need somebody who is hard working, provides great customer service, can work under pressure and has a great open minded attitude. Pay can be between £7-20 an hour, this depends if you have own your car, the type of function, location, and experience. No experience needed as full training will be given.

Totally agree with Gary.
Looks like he does a walk in job hence

My equipment is: Laptop (Macbook Pro 15"), Mixing Decks (M Audio Torq Xponent), Headphones (Audio Technica Ath-M50).

Note ,no lighting or PA , IMHO I have nothing to worry about , not my area , not my DJ style ( yes I have a style of sorts........;) )

Good luck to him.

I have to say, megamixevents, that the more you post, the less I feel you know about the industry. How long have you been operating?

I have to say, megamixevents, that the more you post, the less I feel you know about the industry. How long have you been operating?

Well this is what a high majority of clients want, a cheap budget priced DJ, they are not interested in PAT testing, Insurance, Lighting, Smoke Machines...Just a DJ that simply play's music and takes requests.

I'm afraid to say you may of been in the industry for 'many years' but the industry is changing hugely, it's 80% budget/recession busting prices now. And similar to the labouring industry with cheap labour many DJ's from Europe are slowly moving into the mobile disco business and the prices are been reduced. Look around the various websites out there Gumtree, Craigslist, Ozadz, to name just a few...Maybe take a break from these forums for 5 minutes and venture around, you'll see plenty of adverts for your new competitors ready and willing to provide parties for £100-£150 out there.

I think the National Min Wage is £6.80 so according to one site Megamix Events is paying our DJ's £7.00 per hour LOOOL so at least we're paying an extra 20p per hour for London :o

Sorry megamixevents , but I have to disagree with your last statement , agreed there are clients that shop for the cheapest , there always has been and always will be , but there are an awful lot of DJ`s on here that command a high price , that clients will pay , some of these are full time DJ`s , so they have mortgages and families to support , and the ones I have meet do so to a good standard , most of my work is WMC and pubs , I command a higher than normal price for these type of venues , mainly because I give good value and a professional show , the clients that shop only on price are not my clients.

We managed to track down around 20 of these adverts, and we thought we had them all removed - clearly not! They had been put on the web without our consent.

Well I guess you've worked out how we can afford to pay our mystery guests if we're paying our DJ's £28.00 for four hours work. Damm you've caught us

...Maybe take a break from these forums for 5 minutes and venture aroundFirstly: don't be bloody condescending and rude.

Secondly, if you had been around for more than 5 minutes you'd know that, recession or not, 'cheap DJs' have always been out there, and always will be, and there always has been, and always will be, demand for them. However, they come and go (to be replaced by another lot of cheap DJs). The only ones who survive are the "reputable mobile disco companies" and these companies have proven their ability to adapt and offer a good service at a reasonable price. Difficult as you may find it to believe, more people put more store in 'value for money' than 'cheap'.

...And thirdly, do you have a problem answering the questions that other members ask you? You never seem to address any that are put to you by the other members.

Please explain then - that's the advert you posted in Job Centre Plus, I'm sure there's an explanation, but the longer you avoid a straight answer the more we have to go on what's in front of us and draw our own conclusions.

Edit: Just read your explanation - funny really, it took me 30 seconds to find it, yet you couldn't track it down even though you are obviously very good at posting on every media site known to man - I'm afraid it doesn't really ring true, especially as it's also very much in the style of your website.

* We've been around for quite a few years thanks...It's just we keep growing :-)

* Regarding your comment about answering certain questions, information sensitivity is the control of access to information or knowledge that might result in loss of an advantage, business or trade secrets within the mobile disco business especially if disclosed to others especially to direct competitors.

I worked with a DJ like this at the end of August.

I did my set from 7pm to 1am including every kind of Cowboy Western Dance known plus my err take on a Cheese/ Country Disco.

So far so good. Nice payday.

This strange cove arrives as soon as I finished ( looks a bit like the bloke in the picture) , whips out a Laptop and starts playing music I dont really know but assumed was the latest trance/electro or whatever its called---really weird.

He played through a smallish PA previously supplied by the Wild West enactment people which didnt take long to be over driven and distorted.:daft:

Im happy for people to play through my PA ---BUT NOT WHEN IM GOING HOME.

I was packing away when someone commented how bad the sound was (compared to mine) the drunks seemed to know him and like it and I assume he gets £100.

Nice enough guy catering for a specialist market and no obvious threat to the average Mobile DJ that I can see.

Possibly does a lot of walk in jobs in pubs and clubs requiring no equipment but I assume most on here are not in that market as MDA suggests
MOBILE DISCO ASSOCIATION.

Just another part of the market place.

If megamix compete in that WALK IN market---yup they have a problem.

These days I doubt there is a margin for agents/ commission in that market.

Fully Mobile DJs with equipment and Lights charging £100--thats another different problem.:daft:

On this forum, the aim is to promote best practice and to raise the profile of Mobile DJ's. From reading your post, to me it is clear that you don't really care about any of that, you're just after a quick buck!

Also, condescending comments, that you have made in this thread and elsewhere on this forum, are only likely to get member's backs up...so I would think carefully about what you are going to post, before you actually do.
