Following on from the other thread about instrumental tracks, what was..
a. The last instrumental track you played at a gig?
b. How often do you play instrumental tracks?
c. Do you get requests for instrumental tracks?
My answers are
a. Can't remember
b. Can't remember the last one I played
c. No
I must say these are just quick on the fly answers, maybe with some deep thought or prompting Ithey could change.
P.S. Not including ambient music at a wedding etc..

Ummm... :)
Strange, starting a discussion for which you have no contribution? :D
I can't think of one off-hand, apart from club/house tunes...

Does fedde le grand count?? Technically it doesn't have "singing"....
Last completley instrumental tracks i played was Alter Ego - Rocker at a wedding last week :omg:
Just thought of another one.. played Shapeshifters quite alot when it was first around (i.e. before the vocals were added). EDIT: Scrap that, just realised it was never completley vocal free :embarasse
I did a Film & TV theme gig back in July.. so played quite a few themes that were instrumentals during early evening.

Also Dario G - Carnival De Paris - I had a few gigs at a pub playing music before, during half time and after the England games this summer, so this was played at least 3 times at each of them!

Fully accept the slap on the wrist! It was simply the other thread got me thinking (it does happen) when DO you play instrumentals and maybe I'm missing out.
Honest guv, I'll put some research into this and try to have some major input. Take note..tell the better half not to expect me in bed till 4 am.

1. Lilly was here David a stewart with candie dulfer.
2. Normally only at weddings for background slow instramental or mood type music.
3. only if it tied in with what I was already playing or was suitable for the evening.
Bit difficult to say all occasions because you have to work the crowd. But I do love the sax work on this track.

It's quite a while now but.......
a) probably "Sandstorm" (only if I had to lol)
b) not usually but always wished I had the right lighting system to justify playing Jean Michele Jarre.
c) At a wedding many years ago I was asked to play something by James Last. You might have guessed that the guest who requested that was german (BTW I didn't have anything of his).

a) Last one was on Monday, the Instrumental version of Gwen Stefani - Hollaback Girl. Although didn't leave it as an instrumental track - mashed up Sandi Thom - Punk Rocker over the top of it. I get so bored DJing in the lapdancing bar I have to experiment to keep me going.
On Friday I played darude - sandstorm and Alan Braxe, Fred Falke - Intro.
b) Quite often but mainly in the dance music genres.
c) For the dance tracks, yes.

It is - just R&B all night - so bland. Also it's my responsibility to force the girls to go on the pole and most don't want to. A bit frustrating. Have just cut back from 2 or 3 nights a week to just 1.
The views are good tho...

:omg: jeez.. how do you force them? By saying you will play crazy frog if they don't? :teeth:

Sometimes threaten them with extreme cheese. Normally just smile nicely and tell them i'll tell the boss they are refusing to go up. It's just hard to find the girls sometimes when they are all doing lapdances. And the boss is starting to want 1 song from me, 1 girl dancing to her song, 1 song from me, 1 girl etc. Really boring. Stifling my flow - want to mix but gotta concentrate on finding girls.
So... instrumental tracks...

See, told you I just needed a prompt, Sandstorm for me too, pub gig about 4 weeks ago and it was a request.
Probably the only instrumental track I get asked for.

I use plenty in my wedding background music spots
Played Theme from a Summer place the other week , when it was ****ing down with rain, got some ironic cheers. Also recently played Van McCoy - The Hustle to a good response (cue Mr Pedantic!) :teeth:

Just asking about instrumental music for weddings...
As I see it -
Background music before for the warm up,
Then -
What's a good track to say 'Hello i'm xxxxxx this is xxxxxx hope your having a good time...etc,etc.
Something to talk over basically without trying to worry about words kicking in.
Your thought please.
Thanks.

If you are starting a wedding and introducing the B&G, then I wouldn't have any music on at all. It is very important that everyone hears exactly what you are saying. There's nothing worse than trying to get a round of applause for the B&G and no-one is listening and they didn't hear you!

JUst knock the background music you are playing at the time down a bit and as you are finishing your welcome back bit, start to knock the music up a bit.

Suppose a lot of dance music can be classed as instrumental. Played chris lakes changes quite a lot before it was remade with some vox.
