Just wanted to say thank you to shaun for going the extra mile well above and beyond.

shaun was working for me on friday night,unfortunately his van broke down 25 miles short of the venue,the AA couldn't fix it at the roadside nor relay him to the venue.At this point to some people it may have been game over.

Not wanting to let me or my client down he was able to hire a van at very short notice,return to his own van and transfer the equipment and cary on to the venue and put on a fantastic show,the client has already been on the phone and booked for next year.

Well done Shaun. To break down is one thing but when AA can't fix your van then to hire another to get to the gig and keep the customer satisfied plus not letting your mate down is something you deserve a medal for. I have never know anyone elase to do this before. Again, WELL DONE.

Well I had to do what I had to. Its all part of the job . couldn't see why that just after 5.30 on a Friday enterprise rentals have to charge a £55 out of hours charge And charging me the excess without asking me if I wanted it or not. Out of hours charge was. More than the van.

Well done Shaun, got me a bit worried though---why could the AA not tow you to your destination?

My son and I both have breakdown cover with an extension to get you to your destination wherever it is in England in exactly these circumstances.

Well I'm only guessing here, but I'm wondering if they take one look at a loaded van ( even if Shaun's van isn't in the same category as mine ) and declare it over the safe towing weight for the vehicle they've turned up with? At this point, they'd call for a truck to pick it up. Also, I think they'll only tow you so far with the callout van, because they don't want that vehicle tied up on such a task, when it could be mending other vehicles. Thus, they'll call up a recovery truck, but there will be a delay.

Sooo-I agree if they have an inadequate vehicle to immediately tow you its an issue--but I do remember our old friend Creature mentioning he broke down in his Transit ( no doubt loaded down with tons of heavy Peavey gear) and got towed to the gig no problem---that was RAC I recall.

I know we called AA for a hired large Transit recently and thought we had a problem, which wasnt a problem in the end--they turned up in a standard Transit--not sure if that could do the job of towing a larger Transit full of Rodeo Bull equipment:mad:

Well let me put it this way, Alan. If they turned up shift Thunderbird 2 with a Transit, they couldn't legally. Thunderbird 2 is allowed an all up weight of three and a half tonnes, whereas a Transit is only allowed to pull around two. You don't need Carol Vorderman to see the problem there.

I have only recently got involved with vans and was only aware of carrying limits---not towing--as a car person my limit would be--

a. tow rope breaks:D

b. Towing vehicle unable to move towed vehicle even with tyres smoking :D

Even so a suitable towing vehicle should be available within a reasonable time frame.

Just had roadside assistance not relay. A few months ago the AA rang me and asked me if I wanted to take out some cover that if I need something fixing they will pay for and supply/fit the part wish I had of taken it out

Oh well--I guess as long as you have relay/ onwards destination cover you will get there eventually depending on the availability of towing vehicles and your vehicle weight.
