Ooohh, it's nice to be chilling out today...
Just wondered what everyone was looking to spend some of their hard earned on in the new year?
I guess seeing as this is the Mobile Disco Forum that the thread should really concentrate on Disco Equipment eh?
I'm going to look at some new lighting effects possibly. Not sure what exactly.
I'm more than happy with the sound set up etc...

Other than that I guess I am just being nosey.
Non Disco related - I've recently ordered a brand new synthesizer. It's a new product that was released to the public in October and isn't in the UK at the moment.
I've got a deposit down on it. It's the Yamaha MX61 which looks absolutely awesome.

I've also ordered some spare leads, lamps etc as well as a Numark DJ I/O to see what it's like compared to my Maya 44 and Gigaport AG soundcards.

First task of the New Year is to get my Golf Simulator plans finalised.

Other plans are to update the screens/projectors for race nights, apart from that just replacing what is necessary (hopefully very little). A lot of personal purchases planned this year so hopefully spend less on business and more on personal.

If they're anything like the RCF702's (which are also 12" subs, bit heavier at 26kg though) then you can expect more of a hi-fi sound than a 'thump' - if that makes sense.

You're both in Reading so if you want to have a listen to mine at any time to get an idea of how a 12' sub might work with your tops you're more than welcome.

Yes i run K 10 and added some subs this year and tested these and about 8 other models as i really wanted some deep bottom end for larger marquee jobs ,the Ev was as mentioned just a hi fi sound the two that came out on top were Yamaha & Logic Systems went for the Logic but neither light weight.

We have ordered a 20ft container full of LED furniture, that should keep us quiet for a while, we are also looking at a 5m x 5m LED Video dance floor also, that will probably be a summer purchase though!

I'm investing in another pack of velcro cable ties as they are proving their worth and aiming to have a tidier rig for 2013.

Also, last night, dad was on t'internet and said "Do you know anything about these Alto Truesonic active speakers?" so it looks like he's downgrading his purchase from the RCFs that he said he loved the sound of a few months ago!! Well, he's the money man and the TS's seem to have gotten good feedback on here so they may be a good option to making a smaller, lighter setup for us as I don't like having to lift the E-115s on to the speaker stands anymore - I'm getting too old for that!!

I too have been heavily researching the Truesonics. Especially the wireless ones....could solve a logistical problem for me, especially for the "1 PA in 1 room, 1 PA in another" issue...

No comparison between alto and RCF, £ for £ the Altos are great but the RCFs are a totally different class.

I'd never expect the budget Truesonics to compete like for like with RCFs - I really am not that naive!! ;) But it's proving difficult to get dad to spend some money especially with not having a regular DJing income now since the residencies ended and the fact that we're no longer advertising the karaoke show (although we still do it on request). He loved the RCFs a few months ago and was insistent that we'd have a pair of 412s or 712s by Christmas. However, money got redirected (again!) and things never materialised. Also, my hoped-for redundancy never materialised (so I'm pretty much stuck in the day job until about 2018 when my job role magically disappears due to the Welfare Reform Act 2011!) so funds were not forthcoming there. So, I'll be happy with any kit upgrades or additions that come along in 2013.

When I first saw the title of these products, I thought they were like the Proel air-cushioned stands that we use but these are air-lifted. Very impressive. However, I was more drawn to the fact that they have a telescopic leg so that they can be used on stairs and uneven ground. Now there's a selling point I think I could occasionally make use of!

Well for me, it's going to be a controller/soundcard for the second laptop, another bunch of flightcases to hold the revised kit, and if possible a second EFX500. Time will tell. At least I'm presently very happy with my sound setup, as I can now tailor it exactly to the function and venue.

I bought a Soundcraft Mixer for the disco. Christmas earnings this year. I bought myself a new laptop for home use. I was intending to get a Macbook Pro. But that didnt happen some equipment breakdowns on the disco setup saw to that.

I did need a laptop for home though as mine was on its last legs it was a few year old. So i bought myself a

Sony Vaio with a Core i7, 8gb ram, 1TB HDD, 2gb of ATI Radeon Dedicated Graphics, 17.3 inch LED Full HD 1080p screen, BD-RE (Blu-ray Disc Rewriter) with Windows 8. Very impressed with it. It's very fast.

(front pneumatic, rear solid wheels) Wrong way round but it is not what I want anyway. Apparently Sabre International and Swann Flight cases have the same and Sabre International said they could not get the R12 with 4 pneumatic tyres and did not think they are available anymore.

According to the Register it will be late January before they land in the UK - and as usual, they'll be around £150 more expensive than in the US.

Must admit I was looking at upgrading when they came out, but the lack of an optical drive or any major improvements doesn't quite justify the price tag for me. Form factor (thickness) only matters to me on a laptop - the thickness of a 27" imac that's never going to move off my office desk doesn't really affect me :)

Have just bought - 4 ADJ Inno Rolls, Laserworld CS800, Equinox booth screen, Pioneer headphones and got my Abstract Twister 4 HP's refurbished which have turned out great.

So, possible PA. Like the look of the new EV active systems, also Peavy but the Bose L1 series 2 with B2 modules are pretty attractive.

Its going to be demo's for the next month.

The above was all well and good... until last week lol! Ended buying a new MacBook Pro due to my older one becoming too slow when trying to do VDJ'ing (It's a 2006 model), 2TB External Hard Drive, Laptop stand, cases etc to go with the new Mac. I've also spent a good bit on advertising and am also getting my websites re-coded so will no longer be flash-based and will also work on mobile devices.

Well that's my 2013 budget gone haha!

Just pushed the boat put and bought a 12v lamp for my mixer. While I was in, er....Maplins :whistle: , I noticed they'd got Numark iCDMix 3's on sale at £249...sorely tempted. Not a premium bit of kit I know, but I've had them on loan on more than one occasion and loved it.

I actually use an old wooden computer desk that I've modified to suit my needs (had some great fun cutting holes in it!!). The cables and extensions are all fixed in to place so it's nice and tidy. There's a lower compartment where the 4-gang heavy duty cable reel goes so everything is off the floor and it has extra shelves for cases, light controllers, etc. It works for me and has done for the last few years. As it's on wheels, it also acts as a trolley for getting kit from the car to the setup area easier so it's a multi-function piece of kit!! In fact, imo, the only downside to it is that it is not foldable and requires the Alhambra to transport it. I've also been looking at one of those folding screens to go in front of it but haven't made a decision on that yet.

Thanks for the offer but I think dad has already gone ahead and ordered the ADJ one. It was only £87 delivered from Thomann and it's received some positive feedback (albeit in German - I never realised how funny Google Translate can be!!). Sounded like a good deal this morning!

I had to buy a new LED PAR56 can as I somehow managed to 'fry' one last week. All good, then another one went, no electrical smell on this one so I may be able to fix it yet. otherwise another £41 lighter.

I'm seriously considering a pre-wired lighting bar (can't remember the name) with the slimline LED PAR's, stand and foot controller - seen one for £199. If my PAR can is fixable I'll not get it, if it isn't I may choose to go the pre-wired setup. Had the PAR cans a while now so they've served me well and easily earned their money. I'm trying to spend as little as possible on DJ equipment though as my new hobby/ future business is taking a fair amount of my cash.

Oh, and just bought..... a 14 night holiday in Turkey from 29th July for my wife, daughter and I :D :D :D
