Repairs - Recommendations Please

Hi all,

I wondered if anyone on here knew any decent places or people that do repairs on equipment.
I have an amp that is now out of it's warranty that needs looking at pretty sharpish.
I did have a back up but would you believe it, I sold it in November.
I'll also be looking at getting a replacement for the back up so any suggestions would be good or if anyone has something for sale?
It would need to power the JBL's so an amp that is 500w - 1000w per channel.
I've been using the Crown XLS802 with them and that's what needs looking at.

Any help, recommendations etc would be great.

I've spoken to RSD today and he's on the case aswell to see what he can do. I think he was talking to Crown.

And I did notice a Crown amp in my local Cash Convertors (looked as new) - I'll check the model and price next time I'm in town.

I still have the 2u Yorkville AP4040 amp that will deliver 750w rms at 8 ohm per channel or 1200w rms at 4 ohm per channel for sale. In a black ABS case. This is a really good amp and I had 2 of these plus a larger AP6020 that Nik in Wolverhamton bought from me.
Only this one to sell now as I will be keeping the Chevin Research amp to drive my RCF's.

I've not had anything repaired in the last couple of years so am not sure what the cost would be, but on something like this is it not best to buy a new Amp with a long guarantee- such as the Peavey range that have 5yrs as standard?

I know extended guarantees have bad press because of the cost, but when it's included in the price they often prove to be a wise investment- I'm always worried that you could pay £100+ to have something fixed and then something else go on it the month after.

Last month the best quote I had to repair an Crown XTi1000 was a minimum of £250. Cheaper to pick a another on from ebay. There are very few places that will touch the new digital amps as they are very hard to repair and often the cost is not justified.

I am not moving to buying new amps with 3 year free cover. I use the Yamaha range

Thanks for the information Martin and apologies for not replying to this sooner.
I rang Clive and then went and visited him in his shop. Very nice, helpful bloke.
The Crown has been repaired and tested I am picking it up on Tuesday along with a back up amp too.
