St Michaels Manor Hotel St Albans

Hi all, I'm invited to a wedding here on 27th of April which I am trying to decide upon going as my own sister will be married a week later in Ireland and my wife and child won't be travelling. I was wondering what this venue is like, how late they have entertainment/drinks and whether there is a resident bar. I dont want to travel over from Dublin to have a nice day and have it finish at 12. or 12.30 pm. Most weddings here finish at 2am and often singsongs after will go on till 4 or 5am...it's a cliche but we do love the craic. Also any of ye guys doing this wedding by any chance? I'm first cousin of the bride. cheers

Strangely enough, even though it's only a few miles away from us, I can't recall even ever having had an enquiry for the venue!

I can tell you though, that you won't get weddings going on until 2am here. Most are midnight, with an occasional one going on until 1am at a push. However, most hotels will serve residents drinks whenever they want, so if there's a lot of you staying there who do want to go on, I'm sure you'll be able to, but I'll more or less guarantee that the entertainment won't be able to!

I worked at this venue about 18 months ago for a corporate dinner-dance function. From my recollection it was a nice, hospitable venue with the finishing time for the function around 12.00 - 12.30am, I;m afraid.

I believe that it had a residents bar and, as Angela has already stated, it should be open for as long as the residents require its use subject to local requirements.

It's a venue I work at regularly as a sub-contractor for the preferred supplier. It's a cracking venue. Lavish rooms and top notch staff.

Harry Judd from McFly had his reception there in December and that party went on till 6am! Music is strictly OFF at midnight.

Im booked in March there to kickstart a Wedding.

My guess is if anyone is attending a Wedding and paying for their own drinks take a large wad of cash!!!

I've worked there, just to add - its in a residential area.

Best bet... hit the free wine early on and enjoy the entertainment :beer1:

Separate bar from the function room with a nice seated area in-between. My gig had a major over-run (last minute video slideshow and 2nd best man, with long speech), so dragging people from the bar was a nightmare..

Anyway, a nice enough place.

I'd expect at least 16.

The set-ups we've provided has been with our back to a large mirror (showing off my shiny bit :p), with the conservatory to my left.
The conservatory area is a fair size and whilst you may get away with 4 pars between your set-up and the end of the function room (down the right hand side), you'll then probably need/want to do the rest of the room which is made up wit the conservatory.

So I'm booked for this finally. Cheap 50 euro flight and staying with my cousin in st albans for two nights, thursday and friday 25th, 26th of april.

Not me...
I know Barney plays there sometimes, otherwise I don't have a clue. Someone did say that is pretty tied up - but many of my clients don't pick the recommended DJ anyway.
