Powered hub needed.

I need a powered hub, but not just any old hub, this one's special. Probably about as special as the Unicorn. For reasons of space, I can't fit in a power supply which is part of the plug, especially when it needs an adaptor. So, does anyone know of a power supply where the transformer is separate to the mains plug? Failing that, does anyone know of an adaptor from 13a to two pin where the two pins come out of the side of the plug, rather than the top?

I'm sure I'd have less trouble finding rocking horse manure, but it's worth asking. Thanks folks.

This may be a really daft suggestion, and I don't wish to teach my grandmother, etc, but have you thought about making up a short extension lead to plug in to your wall socket, then plugging the powered hub into the extension?

PS: It's just dawned on me that this is probably already going in to an extension lead socket - possibly inside a flight case where space is tight, so another extension wouldn't be feasible.

One thing does confuse me though....

Sort of. The power supply for it does. Thus, with the adaptor to fit it into an UK 13a socket, the extra height fouls the item above. I fact, I've got a picture of it I posted for Steve a while ago. This should make it clear. See how tall it is, even before the adaptor goes underneath it.

I'll have to look for it again later, but I've had the same problem and I found a 5V, 1A power brick complete with flanges for fixing it to the flight case.

Maplins do also do a universal power supply (can be set for anything from 3v up to 19v) but it's way overkill for a USB hub (45w - so almost 10A at 5V!) and doesn't have fixing flanges.

I'll have a hunt again tonight, but they do exist - I just found this on eBay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DC-5V-4A-20W-Transformer-Regulated-AC-DC-Switching-Power-Supply-For-CCTV-Camera-/281065189709?pt=UK_BOI_Electrical_Test_Measurement _Equipment_ET&hash=item4170ca714d) as well.
