At the moment we send out contraCts in the post but I'm trying to get the governor to consider going online. So he is thinking echosign, he says it's about 40p per contract, is this correct? Also what are the benefits of echosign v's attaching a contract to an email and asking the client to print, sign and scan and email back ?

I don't recall echosign charging per contract. I think it's about £15(ish) for mine per month

The benefit is that it's quick and easy. No worrying about whether the client has a scanner. All they do is click the link in the email they'll receive, type their name and click send. Not much too it. A copy is emailed to both parties...voila. You can also set reminders, and even have echosign send you an automated email to let you know exactly when the client views the contract. All the contracts are also stored within your echosign which makes it very easy to look through them all and download copies if necessary.

You can get 5 contracts per month for free, so give it a go. :)

I have paid for mine for the last 3 years. Renewed it 2 weeks ago at £122 for the year.the free one only allows 5 contracts a month which is no good to me. I do believe the one you pay for I saves the last 500 contracts for you

I've not used Echosign so I apologise if I my assumptions are incorrect but doesn't it basically display you're contract - they type their name into the box and confirm?

If so then emailing a contract which states "confirmation of this contract by email forms a legally binding contract" could do the same job; For free!

My email signature contains the text " Confirmation of a proposed agreement forms a basic legally binding contract."

I did the same although hardly ever use my twitter account. 10 per month is enough for me too although I've come close to the limit just lately, getting quite a few bookings in the last 2 months :)

Once you've used echo sign you'll wonder why you never did it sooner. I also get the clients to transfer the deposit straight into my bank account too so no paperwork at all...

I think it was Angela who pointed out in another thread that you can have your clients sign contracts simply using the latest version of Adobe Reader. I looked in to this (I'd seen all the new menus and buttons but didn't bother trying them out as I was only reading .pdf docs) and found that you can type in your name or even draw in a signature which you then place on to the relevant section of the document and sorted!! It doesn't get any easier than this and you don't need to be clicking different links. EchoSign will store your signed contracts but, once the client has returned it to you after signing with Adobe Reader, all you need to do is save an extra copy (or 4! Depends how secure you want your backups to be!) and that's it. And the best plus point with this method is that it's totally free and without limitations.

I wanted a really easy solution that could be understood by even the least technically savvy clients. Echosign is perfect. It's childs' play.

I was more referring to the limitations of a set number of contracts before having to pay.

When we discussed EchoSign the first time round I did sign up for a free account and linked it to my Twitter account. I even thought it was a good solution but I just kept on emailing .pdf contracts as before but no real reason for this decision other than its always worked for me. I might revisit the idea this year.

I've got to say, I'm now a convert to the idea. Sunday night, I had a contract and payment with me in a matter of minutes. I'll have to look into the possibilities of doing this with Adobe reader, but at the moment, I'm considering signing up for Echosign.
