I slipped a disc in my back yesterday.

I was lying on the floor unable to get up for a couple of hours until some painkillers worked.

Not good! I will be on big pain killers for the next few weeks.

I can walk about but can't bend or pick anything heavy up.

I trained a young lad to set-up system a couple of years ago for when I had the snip. I've got to give him call to see if he can help for the next few weeks!

Not a great thing to happen in our industry.

I hope you feel better soon. :)

Thanks. Can't find any assist so will just see if staff at venue will lift speakers... otherwise will soldier on.

Loving the pain-relief drugs! Floating around the house at the moment.

Lee - it's all those heavy .WAV files that you've been carrying around with you. MP3s are much lighter and, therefore, better for your health!! ;)

:sofa:

Only kidding! I know what back pain is like as I hurt mine in 2004 which lead to me having to give up my job as a postman. And that was after being on the sick for 11 months and undergoing intensive physiotherapy. I'll point out that codeine phosphate and paracetamol is a pretty good combination for the pain! But avoid alcohol as you might get even lighter-headed!!

Hope you're feeling better soon. But, if you have to work, don't stand in the same position for long periods as this doesn't help at all! ;)

Sorry to hear of your problem Lee. I had a bad back through lifting in the 80's but luckily my roadie was a good guy and really helped me.

If you are on strong pain killers and feeling high be careful with your driving.

Hoping it gets better sooner than expected.

Thanks. Took some more diazipam and tramadol again at 2pm and now I'm floating. I don't think I am making any sense to anyone as I am so high.

Won't be taking them until back at home after gigs. All I want to do is sleep.

Yeeouch!

Back problems seem to be the bane of all DJ's. I was hospitalised more than once back in the seventies, and I blamed carring all those 7" vinyls around. Can't have that excuse these days though, so what did it?... The speakers?

You have my greatest sympathy, there's no pain like it and I wish you a speedy recovery and a return to good health.

Take care

Thanks for all the well wishes.

I still can't bend to put my socks on!!

I am just hoping that nothing goes wrong on the nights I am working.

I am in a catch22. I need the painkillers but won't be able to take any until I return home from the gig as they make me too high to drive!
Hoping I can find someone on site to lift my speakers for me. I should cope with the rest.

Try the tramadol without the diazepam if you're worried about driving - it's more than likely the diazepam that's knocking you sick. You can also add 1g of paracetamol four times a day too.

Ouch sorry to hear that mate. I put my back out before a singing gig in January and it was a hard one trying to move about and dance during the set while I couldn't actually twist or pivot my torso.

If you've got any gigs around Glasgow or Lanarkshire you need a hand with hauling, give me a shout and I'll see if I can help.

This goes out to everyone. I've had back pain for a few years in my lower left shoulder. It wasn't caused by DJing it was a result of the school I taught in Saudi Arabia's wall mounted white boards being far too low (I'm 5"9 on a good day and even then I was stooped over by time I got to a few lines of writing on it)

It wasn't bad enough that I needed serious painkillers but it was a constant pain that needed gel etc... and something that I only imagined getting worse with age.

You know what really helped it? Weight training. I started working out and lifting weights to get fit and apart from looking good for the ladies :muppet: it's made my back pain all but disappear. It still comes around now and again but it's a very low dull throb and nothing worse than what you'd feel after a game of fives.

I know it's counterintuative that lifting heavy weights would actually help your back but after doing a bit of reading, I reckon that strengthening your back muscles seems to help alleviate a lot of back issues. Maybe something worth trying out for you guys on painkillers and the like.

I think I am carrying too much weight and that isn't helping.
Will have to get in shape once better.

Had to get hire help to lift stuff last night.
Hoping this getting better as I am doing 3 jobs per week this month from Oban to Gretna!
Had to come off the big-guns..... now just on basic painkillers. Was too spaced and unable to drive on them... plus they are addictive. I fancy taking them just to sleep.
